Sept. 2 Uncle Mike Men's 60 122 posts | First of all, I am a pitcher from Ventura County in Southern California. This is significant because there aren't many ASA or USSSA Tournaments in my area. These 2 Associations abide by different pitching rules than we are accustomed to in my town, and Senior Softball as well. I have pitched in the Rockin' Reno and the Worlds' and have noticed a huge influx of USSSA and ASA pitching allowances. I chose the word allowances because, according to Senior Softball Rules, they aren't allowed. Umpires in both tournaments were allowing 3 ft. pitches, and were calling 8 ft. pitches illegal. These calls tend to favor the batter, and shortens the pitchers reaction time. If illegal pitches were called at 12 ft., as the Senior Rules allow, the pitchers would have more time to defend themselves. |
