| Feb. 17 LA 46 posts | This is my 6th. year going into senior softball and I must say it has been most enjoyable. However, everytime I scroll down the message board I see where there are players looking for teams or teams looking for players. I am just as much into winning as the next player but at our ages, isn't there more to the game. We meet players and their families from all walks of life and develope that special friendship. After our conclusion of season, we are always looking forward to next year's circuit. With the orgainzations boosting their entry fees, extended days of tourn. play, and increased cost of traveling, it is now limiting the number of players that can travel. Therefore, I see where it is reducing the number of teams in the lower divisions. Somethings need to be done now or I am concerned that we are going to see a loss of interest for the lower age brackets. I have suggested to all of the organizations that maybe we need to divide the U.S. into four quadrants and sllow individual players to play on their regional all star team for the Worlds. In this manner no one would ever be left out for a tourn. if they want to travel with the family and visit their cross country friends. I know that their would be some "tweeking" to the process, but I believe we need to look into the true meaning of Senior softball. Let's keep this fun game going. What do you think ???!!! Larry A. |
