While living in New Orleans years ago, I sustained a pretty serious injury. I went to Tulane Medical Center for a nerve block. There was no room for me in recovery, so, believe it or not, I wound up in the corner of a huge room filled with pregnant women at various stages of delivery.

I was wheeled to the far corner, drapes pulled around me, and was told that I would be there for 2 hours. During that first hour, dozens of women screamed, wailed, cursed etc. However, one was particularly annoying. Evidently, she was heavily sedate; for an hour, at the top of her lungs, she kept repeating one statement: ALL THE PRETTY COLORS! ALL THE PRETTY COLORS! It was maddening.

When my nurse came back to check on me, I convinced her that "You have to get me out of here!" I spent the next hour out in the hallway, quiet, serene, restful. Is there possibly an analogy here somewhere?!
