60's division. Great tournament, lots of fun and good weather. Congrats to all the teams that were there. Hope I get this right:
Gold Div--Harris(Ark); Teeters(Ark); Tx Greyhounds(65 3A-Dallas); Okies(Okla); and Christian Brothers Automotive(Houston).
1st---Okies
2nd--Christian Brothers
3rd---Teeters
4th---Harris
4th---Greyhounds
Darth Vader thanks and congradulates all these teams for a good time and fun games. Umpires were terriffic and deserve being told they did a great job all weekend
Congrats to Okies.
Silver Div.--Tx Tornadoes; Houston Wildcatters(65 3A); DaBoomers(Okla); Tx Classics(Houston); and Tulsa Seniors(?). I didn't get to see much of the double elimination but the games I did see were great. I know Tulas Seniors needed to double dip DaBoomers, but don't know how it ended. I do know the TxClassics were 3rd. Congrats to both teams in the finals and to all the teams in that division.
The kind of tournament the players and wives enjoy. Great Time. See yall in August

GT, do you play for Christian Bros? If so, we (Teeters) enjoyed our games with you. You have a good bunch. A team I was on picked up Tommy John, JW, and Ewold (I hope I spelled that correctly) a few years ago and I always look forward to seeing them at tournaments.

I assume you guys are coming to the SPA Nationals. Have you considered going to Ardmore, OK for the Great Plains championships?

I was pitching for Christian Brothers and we enjoyed our games with you guys. Great competition and fun. Look forward to more at Nationals. Ewald and TJ were there, so I assumed you got to chat with them. JW moved to Lubbock(Why would anyone do that? lol) but he will be at Nationals. We don't know anything about Ardmore, but will mentioned it to our manager. We've got several local tournaments to play so not sure at this late date we would/could fit another. Will you give me info about it. This was first tournament in a while we didn't have to play teams we had already played a half dozen times, so some new faces would be nice. Again, we enjoyed our games and hope we have more.

GT,

The SPA Great Plains Championship is 7/28-7/30 (for 50,55, & 60). You can get more details on the SPA website: http://www.spasoftball.com

Last year it was mostly OK, AR, and TX teams.

Teeters won the 60AAA division last year, so we opted to go to this one rather than the Austin tourney the week before.

TT, thanks for info. bit late to change our schedule now but next year will give some OKla tournaments more thought. Maybe we can get more 60 3A teams to put out where they are playing so we get more variety at tournaments rather then playing the same teams all the time. We goofed not going to Pensacola and won't make that mistake again. We always went there as 55's. Keep me updated on where you guys go and any other 3A team you know. See you in Aug.PS I like the Dallas Spurs, think they have a strange manager though. lmao He makes it enjoyable.

I like your idea about the 60AAA teams communicating with each other as to where they are going. It would make for better tournaments if we could coordinate that. Our schedule for the rest of the summer is mostly in the opposite direction from you -- Ardmore, Hot Springs, Kansas City, St Louis. We will be at Plano and are planning to go to Baton Rouge in the fall. We were scheduled to go to the SPA Winter Nationals in Pensacola, but since it move to Tampa, I'm not sure about that one.

I had the good fortune to play with the Dallas Spurs before I aged up to 60's. Ed has put together a good team. They won the 55 Silver division at Plano last week. I think he is planning on moving to 60's next year. Not sure how much of the team turns 60.

Good luck with the rest of the season. See you in Plano in August -- the fall weather should have set in by then.

I like Ed, but keep him in 55's for a while longer. 60's is crazy enough. Actually it will be fun time to see him with us older guys. He does make the games fun. Our wives love him. We now wish we had planned tournaments differently but too late for this year. We will be changing our thinking next year. Hope others will get in here and drop some info on what they will be doing. Not sure now about Baton Rouge. MIght change our plans for that one. Tampa is tempting though. Let us know how your doing in your other tournaments. I sure hope the fields are softer in August then this past weekend. Lots of sore legs and knees from that hard surface.
PS My Cubs are hot

Greetings;
Just to keep you guys in the loop...Pensacola Senior Softball Organization is working with Ridge to host a regional championship tournament in Pensacola in October 2006. I will post as more information becomes available.

Airbosn, keep us posted. I can't speak for the whole team, but Pensacola sounds a lot better than Tampa.

GT, the guys in Baton Rouge put on a good tournament. They have a nice facility and the weather is usually great in November.
