SSUSA, SPA MAJOR-PLUS IMPACT PLAYERS ARTICLE UPDOADED BY BASHBRO1:
SENIOR SOFTBALL News Report:
-------------------------------------------------
SPA and SSUSA have agreed to institute a Major-Plus Impact player list, which is a list of Major-Plus players who will not be allowed to play in AAA or AA teams for potential safety reasons because of their skill level.

The original list of Major-Plus Impact Players is from the SSUSA's 2006 All Tournament player list from the World Championships and SPA's All American players list from the National Championships.
The list was reviewed by a committee of the National Players Advisory Board, chaired by Carlos Becerra. The committee recommended starting with the All Tournament and All American list and adding players that may not be on the list, but who may be too strong to play in AAA or AA divisions.

Major-Plus players not on the Impact list will be allowed to play in lower divisions. "We will also be looking at players in a caseby-case basis," said Ridge Hooks, SPA executive director. "There are some Hall of Fame players who are no longer selected by their teams as All American or All Tournament players, but should be on the list because of their skill and strength."

Here are the Major Impact Players:

This is a step in the right direction. Step 2 should be the fine tuning of adding to this list and removing the ones that don't belong. Step 3 should be determining how many impact player can play with a Major team before they are made to play Major Plus. I know the article said that these players can't play AAA or AA but I think a AAA team should be able to carry one or two impact players on their roster.
Any other ideas?

Questions:
Does this mean that if a player name does not appear on the current list he can play AAA? I know of a couple of players who were denied playing AAA because they had played Major Plus in the past.

Bruce is right about the steps but I wonder what will happen if any of the players listed below find themselves living in an area where there is nothing but AA and AAA teams. Are the associations going to allow them to play out of region?

Let it be known that I support any authentic movement
to solve any problem that exists in senior softball.
There's all too many, that are too old, too scared or too ignorant that don't want to change anything.
I will support anything that is fair and get this,
can be implemented fairly.
The aspect of implementability is a crucial one.

I thought limiting the dynamic aspects of the game from Major plus to AAA was a good idea.
Unlimited homeruns verses no home runs.
Longer bases.
Longer mound.
Number of players.
Platooning.
Did someone say platooning.
This is the simplest, easiest way to get better and more participation in Senior softball, decrease injuries,
increase revenue and help keep players playing longer and better and players tell me it's an idea before it's time.
That's why they call me Einstein.
