Any live testing of a ball and bat combination with live hitters is inherently flawed because as human beings we will not put the same swing on the ball each time and will not hit the dead center on the sweet spot each time. In addition fatigue sets in and one can have a bad or inconsistent day. That said the previously referred to website, which has in addition many interesting pages states the composite bats will create a faster exit speed. That said the balls are not part of that conclusion. http://www.acs.psu.edu/drussell/bats/compalum.html All bats are a compromise. More weight at the end will drive the ball farther at any given batspeed, however, the more weight at the end creates at bat which is harder to swing fast (MOI and all that stuff). It is noteworthy that the Easton USSSA Helmer professional model advertises a 12 inch (short) barrel to generate maximum batspeed and distance. Theoretically the best senior bat (if by best you mean max distance or exit speed) would have a short barrel, but that would not be forgiving for slight mishits. Remember the MM yellow came in 10 and 12 inch barrels. All senior bats must pass the same tests to be certified, but how that bat works for you depends on many different criteria. Alan's bat is probably excellent but it won't change the game. With ASA bats advertised as 98+MPH and USSSA bats at 100+MPH I don't think the senior bats with senior balls create that great of an increase over those bats and the former bats get much better with break in.
