LVSSA/SSUSA WORLD MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 • Results & Recap
Congratulations to the Teams that have just competed in the largest Senior Softball tournament in history!!!!

The 2012 World Masters Championships in Las Vegas did more than simply shatter an old record - although we are very happy with that particular stat! The tournament has put the entire sport of senior softball in a position to ascend to the next level as a major sport in America.

The WMC attracted International attention, as well. The Deputy General Secretary of National Senior Affairs for China attended the tournament and was so impressed with senior softball that she requested we help her establish the sport in China.

The Japanese woman's team played in a special competition, the fifth Annual Joiful Friendship Games, at the beginning of the tournament. The games inspired international friendship.

Teams from Japan, Germany and Guam competed - as well as teams from 36 states, including Alaska and Hawaii and 3 Canadian provinces.

On the field, some huge divisions competed - the largest was the 50AAA with 49 teams! Several other divisions set records for the largest ever in the sport, including the elder statesmen of the sport, the 80s Divisions, in which 11 teams competed!

For the first time, All Tournament Players and the MVP from each team can purchase special rings from Josten's. If your MVP or All Tournament player did not receive a ring-order form, please contact Barbara at our office (916) 326-5303.

While many records were set, we also experienced some growing pains and apologize to those teams in large brackets whose games were delayed. Most of the delays were caused by moving teams to different complexes on the same day. We will change this next year by keeping the teams at the same fields for their round robin seeding games and their first bracket games.

In addition, because the tournament drew 50 more teams than we anticipated, we were forced to pick up a few fields at the last minute that were less than world tournament quality. We are currently working to acquire at least two more 4-field complexes for 2013, which will resolve the problem and give us room to grow.

It gives us great pleasure to announce the winners of the 2012 World Masters Championships and the USA National Champions!
