| Dec. 1 coach4250 7 posts | Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Implantation A heart failure device is a small implantable device that treats certain types of heart failure. Implantation of a heart failure device involves positioning leads in the heart and placing the device beneath skin, usually in the shoulder area. Has anyone out there had this procedure and continued to play softball? I'm more concern about being able to swing the bat without disturbing the device thanks!! |
| Dec. 1 wolfin42 Men's 55 32 posts | Yes I have had this implanted two years ago. I play tournaments with a team out of Tacoma, WA. I also umpire both fastpitch and slowpitch softball. Do it and play all the softball you want. Good Luck |

| Dec. 2 miken44 90 posts | had a pace maker put in 2010 did not play that summer started playing again 2011 no problem is scary the first time out use to pitch but don't no more i don't think about it even being there |
| Dec. 2 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | I hope those extra steps you'll be forced to make running the 70' bases won't affect any of you. I know a few players with pacemakers and they do well as it is. That was my concern about the 5 extra few times 4 to go all the way around. Those with no health issues do not care, but possible someday they will. |

Incidentally I play outfield and courtesy run several times per game--I have never felt ill effects from it although when it is checked I always laugh when the tech tells me I had blank number of episode and then I tell her approx what time they were--every time you run or even swing the bat several times in BP it shows an episode--- |
