ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Gorgeous backdrops, breathtaking scenery and great competition drew 45 teams to Aurora, Colo., for the Rocky Mountain Championships.

     The Aurora Sports Park, the 2014 SSUSA Complex of the Year, hosted the 3rd iteration of this popular event. Tournament Director Don Brooks noted, “All of the players were excited to see how great the facilities were at the Aurora Sports Park Complex.”

     Nearby lightning strikes threatened the tournament, but fortunately the games were completed before it could have any impact on play.

     The tournament featured 12 hard fought brackets and also the induction of Greg Broeckelman into the National Hall of Fame. Scrap Iron teams including Scrap Iron Force, Scrap Iron 70 Red, Scrap Iron/Phiten, Scrap Iron Freedom and Scrap Iron Legends took home five of the 12 division titles up for grabs.

     Tournament Director Brooks praised the Scrap Iron teams and their association for their contribution to make this event a winner, “If it wasn’t for the Scrap Iron Association, this great tournament would not be possible.”
