Teams Dust Off Winter Rust at 2017 Spring Training Classic

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The 2017 Spring Training Classic was held here and split between two weekends, as the Men’s 50’s through 70’s age divisions played March 3-5 at Rose Mofford and Victory Lane Sports Complexes, and the Men’s 40’s played March 11-12 at Desert West Sports Complex.

In the Men’s 70 championship, Ginco/Bryce Orthopedics/Hooters defeated Nick’s Diner, 19-14.

The Men’s 65 Major division saw AZ Ancient defeat both Rox and One Time in a round-robin final.

The Men’s 65 AAA division also featured a round-robin final between three teams, as Los Vatos Viejos, New Mexico Boomers and Northwest Silver all split games going 1-1. Los Vatos Viejos would earn the tiebreaker allowing the least number of runs scored at 30.
 

Arizona Old School 55’s won the Men’s 55/60 Major division downing Southwest Bandits 17-11 in the championship game. AZ Legends finished in third place in the four-team bracket.

Sidewinders 60’s defeated CJ & S Express, 25-15, in the championship game of the Men’s 60 AAA division. Bucky’s Casino 60’s finished in third place.


In the Men’s 55 AAA division, Santisi Brothers posted a 3-0 record in bracket play, including a thrilling 17-16 win in the championship game against Los Vatos Viejos. Thunderstruck 55’s finished in third place.

In the Men’s 55/60 AA division, New Mexico Warriors defeated Los Vatos Viejos 12-9 in the championship game. Lights Out finished in third place.

In the eight-team Men’s 50 AAA division, Arizona Heat 50’s completed a 4-0 record in bracket play, including a 26-16 win over Thunderstruck in the championship game. AZ Prime Time finished in third place.

Arizona Alpha Dawgz took the Men’s 50 Major division with a 24-2 win over Tucson Hammertime Softball in the championship game. Arizona Old School finished in third place.

Roster Check completed a perfect weekend running the table in the Men’s 40 Major division, going 3-0 in seeding play to lock up the top seed and posting a 4-0 record in bracket play.

Blue Pill Mafia finished in second place, while CRS rounded out the top three teams.

Aces won the Men’s 40 AAA division with a 15-13 victory over Phat SC in the championship game.
