Mass Shooting In Las Vegas Hits SSUSA

Oct. 1, 2017

Two unidentified senior softball players helping aide victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Senior Softball-USA has learned one of our own teams, SoCal Legacy (Men’s 40 AAA), was affected by the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas that injured nearly 530 people and took the lives of at least 59 people.

Several players from SoCal Legacy were in town for a wedding of one of the players. While in the area of the Route 91 Harvest Festival, one of the members of the bridal party was shot, but she is expected to recover.

SoCal Legacy players Paul Cahill, Orville Creech, and Robert Fredzess were not shot, but some sustained injuries running for cover, according to team manager Elliott Wahinepio.

Statement from SSUSA:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and victims of the terrible mass shooting in Las Vegas on Oct. 1 at the Route 91 Harvest Festival near Mandalay Bay.

This tragedy occurred on the last evening of the third session of the World Masters Championships here in Las Vegas.

While we do not know the reason for this attack, we firmly believe that the best answer to any form of terrorism is to continue our lives. Therefore, the fourth session of the World Masters Championships will continue as planned this weekend.

The most powerful force we can weld is to act together to support each other in unity. We intend to do just that by continuing the World Masters Championships.
