Charles A. "Chuck" Luppy

Charles A. “Chuck” Luppy, 69, of Wilmington, DE died on Dec. 6, 2017.

Within SSUSA, Luppy most recently played with The Bank (2014 – 2017), who he helped lead to a third place finish at the 2016 LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships. He also played with Chesapeake 60’s and New Jersey Hitmen.

Along with playing the game of softball, Luppy also worked it as an umpire.

Luppy served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Luppy is survived by his longtime companion, Deborah Freebery; his children, Christopher (Dontae), Adam (Heather), Dana, Ryan (Erin), and Daniel (Sarah); and his grandchildren, Dylan, Olivia, James, and Kelliann.

 

 


Novice "Nick" Dee Nicholson

Novice “Nick” Dee Nicholson, 73, of Irving, TX, died on Nov. 21, 2017.

Nicholson was a longtime member of Texas Legends 65 and 70, playing annually in the Texas State Championships, as well as Oil City Classic, Heart of Texas, and Aggieland Classic. He most recently played during the 2016 season with Texas Legends 70.

Nicholson is survived by his wife, Ann; son Ryan Lee Nicholson; son Robert “Robbie” Novice; daughter Lyndee Ann Hayes; and six grandchildren Rylee Jo Nicholson, Austin Cole Nicholson (Ryan), Carter Dee Nicholson, Cali Marie Nicholson (Robbie), Kenon Brant Hayes and Cora Ann Hayes (Lyndee).





Stephen Meek

Stephen Meek, 76, of Shelbyville, IN died on Nov. 30, 2017.

A longtime member of SSUSA, Meek was a player/manager on the Direct Employers II 70 team that played during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Additionally, Meek also played for Joseph Chevrolet 75+, Dot Jobs/Indy 65’s, Indianapolis Classics, and Indy 60’s, among others.

He most recently played in the 2017 season with Indy Fog, participating in the Brickyard Invitational and ISA Senior World Series.

Meek is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Brady Meek (Tina Yates) and Jill (Thomas) Hebbe; grandchildren, Brandi Meek, Douglas Meek, Jordan (Clark) Cord, Jacob Hebbe, and Andy Yates; great-grandchildren, Morgan Higdon, Nathan Meek, and Ian Eiler.
 

 



Lawrence "Larry" Paul McNamare


Lawrence “Larry” Paul McNamare, 81, of Fairfield, CA died on Dec. 7, 2017.

“Larry was active in the Northern California Senior Softball Association (NCSSA) for more than 20 years, coaching and managing such teams as Northern Express, Old A’s, Bandits and Omen,” said Gary Tryhorn, NCSSA Vice President. “Larry has helped many players to become the best they could be and he will be missed."

Within SSUSA, McNamare was affiliated with numerous powerhouse teams, including Omen 60, 65, and 70, as well as Nor-Cal Bluejays, CA Bandits and Old A’s.

McNamare is survived by his wife, Sheryl; son, Gary; daughter, Debbie; son, David; stepdaughter, Michelle; and stepson, Michael Nelson; as well as nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
