Jeffrey Kimoto - SSUSA Hawaii State Director
SACRAMENTO - Senior Softball-USA has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Kimoto to Hawaii State Director, effective Jan. 1.
Kimoto takes the reins overseeing the state of Hawaii from Ed Schell (2016 - 2019). Alex Kane (2007 - 2016) had performed the duties for many years prior to Schell.
“It’s time for new, younger blood to take over the responsibilities in perpetuating senior softball on the islands,” said Schell.
Kimoto, 60, formerly from Sacramento, has been involved with the game of softball since he was 25. He played local leagues and tournaments in Northern California before migrating to senior softball.
When he became age eligible for senior softball, Kimoto participated in the Lodi Senior Softball League.
In 2015, Kimoto managed Excessive Speed, leading the team to the U.S. National Championship title in the Men’s 50 AAA division at the LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships.
Additionally, Kimoto served on the board of directors and webmaster for the Northern California Senior Softball Association (NCSSA), prior to moving to Kauai in 2013.
In Kauai, Kimoto coordinated Kauai’s Senior Softball organization from 2015 - 2017.
A move to Oahu in 2018 placed Kimoto as vice president and web administrator of the Oahu Senior Softball organization, where he runs a 12-inch ball senior league year-round on Fridays for players over 50.
“Many people don’t realize that the 14-inch ball is the standard ball for Hawaii,” said Kimoto. “I want to make the 12-inch ball used on the mainland and tournaments standard in Hawaii.”
Kimoto is also the co-director for the Hawaii Mayor’s Cup Senior Softball Tournament held in January on the big island.
