Michael Anthony Abraham

Mike Abraham, 71, of Fairfax, Va., died on July 28, after battling cancer.

Known as ‘Abe’ by his family and friends, he was a long-time player with Northern Virginia Force 60s, 65s, and 70s, starting with SSUSA in 2012.

A power hitter and regular All-Tournament pick, “Abe [was] the ultimate teammate and everything a manager would want in a player,” said Alan Gillespie, manager of Northern Virginia Force.

Joe Mizzoni, fellow teammate and friend, remembers “Abe was patient, friendly and supportive, always providing positive encouragement. He had a major impact on many of his teammates with his quiet and reassuring leadership.”

Outside of softball, he worked 34 years with the CIA and received multiple awards including the Career Intelligence Medal. He also volunteered and financially supported many organizations such as the Special Olympics, Porto Charities increasing educational and employment opportunities for those with disabilities, coaching youth sports, and volunteering at his local church.
