Task Force Survey Results

Oct. 1, 2008 – Senior Softball-USA

50, 55, 60 SS-USA MAJOR PLUS TASK FORCE SURVEY

The purpose of this survey is to determine the preferences of the Major Plus

teams in how they want the Major Plus division to operate within SS-USA.

(The numbers before the survey question indicates the number of managers voting for that proposal)

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

2 Major Plus teams will play seeding games which will seed into a modified double elimination. (SS-USA current rule).

9 Major Plus teams will play 2 seeding games on first day, double elimination to start on second day, with third day finishing by 1 pm.

5 Major Plus teams will play 3 seeding games on first day, double elimination to start on second day, with third day finishing by 1 pm.



TIME LIMIT

1 60 minutes in seeding, 65 minutes in double elimination, no limit in championship game. (SS-USA current rule).

10 65 minutes in seeding, 75 minutes in double elimination, no limit in championship game.

5 65 minutes in seeding, 90 minutes in double elimination, no limit in championship game.

0 60 minutes in seeding, no limit in double elimination.



RUNS PER INNING

7 Seven runs per inning throughout tournament. (SS-USA current rule).

4 Seven runs per inning, last inning open, in seeding. Unlimited in double elimination, mercy rule, 25 after 5.

5 Unlimited in seeding and double elimination, mercy rule, 25 after 5.



HOMERUNS

4 12 in 50, 10 in 55, 8 in 60, then outs. (SS-USA current rule).

7 10 in 50, 55, 60, plus 1-up, then singles.

2 12 in each division, plus 1-up, then singles.

3 Unlimited

BATTED BALL STRIKING PITCHER

8 Batted ball striking pitcher that cannot be fielded, is a dead ball out. (SS-USA current rule).

8 Eliminate rule on batted ball striking pitcher.

ROSTER RESTRICTIONS

6 State plus bordering states, Snowbirds allowed, no exception players. (SS-USA current rule).

8 State plus bordering states, Snowbirds not allowed, 1 exception player using

West/East of Mississippi River.

2 State plus bordering states, Snowbirds not allowed, 2 exception players using West/East of Mississippi River.

SOFTBALLS

5 Association supplies softballs as needed. (SS-USA current rule).

10 Major Plus teams given 2 dozen softballs, can buy more if needed. Major Plus teams hit their own balls and chase their own homeruns.

ROSTER PUBLICATION

2 Major Plus rosters kept private. (SS-USA current rule).

14 Major Plus rosters made public



BALL/STRIKE COUNT

12 4-3 ball/strike count. (SS-USA current rule).

4 3-2 ball/strike count, or, come to the plate with 1-1 count.

2 4 4 65 min seed, 75 min DE, no limit in champ. Game.

3 0 2 65 min seed, 90 min DE, no limit in champ. Game.

1 3 3 Seven runs per inning throughout tournament.

1 0 3 Seven runs perinning, in seeding, Unlimited in DE, with mercy rule.

3 2 0 Unlimited in seeding and DE, with mercy rule.

0 2 2 12 in 50, 10 in 55, 8 in 60, then outs.

2 2 3 10 in 50, 55, 60, plus 1-up, then singles.

1 0 1 12 in each division, plus 1-up, then singles.
