SSUSA NORTH REGION FEBRUARY DOME TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD AT METRODOME

Feb. 1, 2010 – Steve Simmons New England & North Regional Director, Clubs & Leagues

TWIN CITIES, Minn. – The SSUSA North Region Recreational Tournament Circuit’s February Dome Tournament will utilize a fourth dome, in addition to the three normally used. The new addition will be the Metrodome of Minneapolis.

The tournament, which is Feb. 25-26, will schedule games in the Metrodome if there is enough interest among the attending teams.

The Metrodome is available for tournament play on Feb. 26, from 2:30 to 6:30 a.m. The cost to play in the Metrodome will be $125 per team (about $10 per player). This would be in addition to the team’s tournament entry fee which will be around $250 per team.

The plan is to schedule four games in the Metrodome, each one hour long. This would allow eight different teams to play a game in the Metrodome. These games would be sandwiched between Thursday’s games in the Richfield and Roseville domes and Friday’s games in the Richfield, Roseville and Stillwater domes.

It is anticipated that 14 to 16 teams will take part in this tournament. It is expected six teams (MN Prize 55’s, MN Lumberjacks, MN Masters 60-White, Kansas City Seniors, Omaha Godfathers and Team Hennessy) will make up the competitive division. Another 10 teams (five West Metro league teams, two East Metro league teams, Bobby & Steve’s, Mason City Seniors and the Rochester Relics) are expected to fill out the recreational division.

The Metrodome teams will be those teams willing to pay the additional $125 and play at that time of the morning. If more than eight teams are interested, then the first eight teams that register for the Metrodome time slots will be the teams involved.

The tournament will be a guaranteed five-game event with the teams that play in the Metrodome each getting a sixth game. If your team wants to play in one of the Metrodome games, please let Steve Simmons know right away so plans can be made.
