LARGE 40 MASTERS DIVISIONS COMPETE IN FRESNO AT CAL CUP
Maggie Lau Information Services Director
FRESNO, CA. – The California State Championships came back to where it all began eight years ago.
While extreme heat was a potential concern during the middle of August, there were no major heat-related medical issues. The weather was consistently sunny and in the high 90’s.
But competition was definitely hot on the field.
Fifty-two teams attended this years California State Championships with a whopping 15 of them playing in the 40’s Masters Division – 12 men’s and 3 women’s teams. Team Braves took the Men’s 40’s Major Division – also one of the largest divisions – in the “IF” game over Class Act (19-9).
Sofaking was crowned the champions of the Men’s 40’s AAA Division after OGR was forced to forfeit for falling short of players. In the 40s Women’s division, Hafta Play slid by Steel Runnin’ 20-19 in the “IF” game.
Seeded last in the eight-team Men’s 55/60’s Division, Timberworks Construction 60’s fought its way back through the elimination bracket to beat J & J Ag. in the “IF” game 12-5.
