Aug. 23, 2014 Pricer | Topic: Bats Discussion: Aluminum bats and blue dot balls LeeLee, must of struck a nerve because you now want to single me out as the anticomposite! "So Pricer do you really think SSUSA is going back to Aluminum bats and worth blue and red dot balls." For the record, even with those balls, the ball never traveled as fast thru the infield back then even with the major players hitting them as they do know with players who never played competive tournament ball. Sure softball is fun, that's why we tolerate all the BS that comes with it. But don't be a SSUSA slappy! I'm just one guy that feels when every step taken to protect the fielders/pitchers that have been made has been just a bandaid. Fact is the real solution is right in front of everyone that plays the game. Come on, you can say it? No I don't think they ever will return to the things and products that got them where they are today! But, if anyone could put a tournament or tournament series together using the old technology, I believe we as players would enjoy the game that much more. JMO |
Aug. 22, 2014 Pricer | Topic: Bats Discussion: Aluminum bats and blue dot balls LeeLee, it's ok for the bats to change the game at the risk of injuries, but it's not ok to want the old school bats and balls to reduce them. Screw those folks for wanting a safer game and do the baserunning for your freaking self! Take that! If home runs are the only reason players play the game today, then our game has gone right in the shitter! "Do you really think you play defense like you did 20, 30 or 40 years ago." No, we can't field and run like we used to. We've slowed down, but the bats have increased speed of the ball going thru the infield. Let's compare apples to apples here LeeLee. You say we'll lose players if the change, I'll say we might, but not as many as we lost because to the bats! |
May 29, 2014 Pricer | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Pitching masks revisited Tait's, I was being sarcastic in mentioning what's changed! I am a pitcher and I was just stating the obvious. But all these threads come back to the same thing. There is one way to change this, but every post regarding things like this indicates, let's put a bandaid on the issue. Never actually repairing the problem. |
May 28, 2014 Pricer | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Pitching masks revisited These threads on safety for the pitcher always end up with a way to try and cover the real issue. No one ever thought softball was dangerous to your health 15-20 years ago. Even as you got older there was never the discussions regarding injuries or death! What's changed? |

May 5, 2014 Pricer | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Pitching masks revisited I made this comment back in January on this board. Skeptical, it's a mind set. Anyone who feels like the pitcher or infielders are safer because they are protected will feel more comfortable at the plate. I've pitched in games that the pitcher wore no equipment had little to no balls hit up the middle. As soon as there was a pitching change and the next pitcher was dressed head to toe in protective equipment, the middle of the infield was the choice for some of the hitters. Not guessing that this happens, I as well as many others have witnessed this. Like I said, I don't think anyone hit's the middle to hurt anyone, but if the risk of injury lessens, some players feel it's ok to use that part of the field. JMO |
Jan. 15, 2014 Pricer | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Is Pitching Mask mandatory Skeptical, this comment is just stupid! "what the pitcher wearing a mask also tells me is (a) he is lacking a bit of confidence in his defensive abilities and/or (b) he is a bit deficient defensively." I would bet I have pitched as many games or more than players my age(56)at some of the higher levels of softball than most. Not one pitcher that I know of in all of my career ever took the mound fearless! Everyone of us understood and FEARED this could be the day we get drilled. No one should have the right to tell someone how to run their company. If you or anyone else don't like something they sell or their rules, don't buy it! Simple! I hate the bats and have said so from day one, but I have the same choice you do. Play or don't play. If you want to campaign for a change, the mask is the wrong item. Go after the item that changed the game! JMO |

Jan. 13, 2014 Pricer | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: where are all the pitchers Huler, it's ok to disagree. But I'll stick to my comment made earlier on this subject. It's jus my opinion. "I believe the more equipment the pitcher wears, the more hitters feel like it's ok to drive the middle. I don't think anyone looks to drive the middle to hurt, but the anxiety or worry about going the middle is lessened when the pitcher is equipped with protective gear.JMO" |

July 31, 2013 Pricer | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Has the game really been toned down? SFTF said, "One accident and we are going to reinvent the bat and ball combo! The game has already been toned down! Injury's happen, even in the70s! I would where gear for fear of a bad field more than anything!" My quess is the memory is going or gone, because I cannot recall as many injuries let alone catastrophic ones back in the 70's or 80's. |
May 5, 2013 Pricer | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Sponsor looking to finance an "established" Men's club No attacking here, just responding to what I'm reading with statements and questions. I never once said anything about his integrity. As far as my english, my point get's across. Don't like it, don't read it!You might be in the wrong forum if you want to start correcting papers. Vet, where in the hell did I bad mouth this guy? |
May 5, 2013 Pricer | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Sponsor looking to finance an "established" Men's club Ok, let's just come out and ask the the question. Sparky, why do you think your having difficulty finding a team to sponsor while throwing 10 G at them & indicating there is a player that comes with the money? Txtable, all I'm using is logic & common sense here. Your thinking with your heart. You can see you have more than a casual relationship with sparky. I think it's peachy keen this man wants to throw the money around to sponsor a bunch of folks he don't know, but I've been around the block a couple of times and this just don't look or smell right. Been through these type of sponsors before and those seasons were not any of my favorites. Anyone else see any of the same issues I do? |
May 2, 2013 Pricer | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Sponsor looking to finance an "established" Men's club Sorry gentlemen, but your losing me on the old school/new school debate. The issue for me is simple. Where in any of our lifetimes have you ever seen or heard of a sponsor willing to shell out 10G's and needing to find a team to take it. Red flags going up all over the place. Wood, I respect your opinion, but indicating the email should have been kept private might be important to you, but maybe JSheeran thought it was important other people knew about the baggage as well. Is this not a place for info? I appreciate folks like you that have pulled big money out of your pocket to allow slugs like me the opportunity to play ball and keep cost low or maybe free. But there's something definitly wrong here and the wrong person was thrown under the bus. We are an old school team that raised our fees ourselves with a good sponsor and the rest covered with out of pocket money. Not one person on our club would ever want or except money with those kind of strings attached. I'm really surprised some people disagree. JMO |
May 2, 2013 Pricer | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Sponsor looking to finance an "established" Men's club Well fellas, I'm one of those players that play for the fool that turned down this incredible sponsor! Ace, gu_nn & txtable, your all a-holes for suggesting everyone to take the money and screw the morals, and team chemistry teams work so hard to earn. It's obvious you need that money more than his team does. It's part of the reason our society works the way it does today. I'm sure all of you will need a case of chap stick from kissing this guys rear end, just so you can get your sponsor money. Instead of blasting Mr Sheeran, you should be thanking him for throwing this huge fish back into the sea for you three to go fishing for. Good luck! |
May 2, 2013 Pricer | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Sponsor looking to finance an "established" Men's club Is the sponsor/player a SS & hit in the 3 hole? This is funny sh*t! |
April 15, 2013 Pricer | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Sponsor looking to finance an "established" Men's club Good luck on the quality and support gig. Most of these companies buy them to milk them and set them free. Manufacturing will change shortly and quality will drop. That's my experience. |

Jan. 9, 2013 Pricer | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 70' Bases For the sake of asking, what is the reason for all the love for 70' bases? For me, it makes no sense based on the reasons I have heard. We don't need to run any further than we do already. If any infielder can snag one of these rockets going thru the infield, it is almost surely a double play at the distances we use now and almost none of the fields we played on in the last couple years have not been cut for the 70' distance. So we are looking at a lip to deal with if the infielders were to move back to compensate for the new distance. Am I missing something here? |
