Discussion: No Lead Offs

Played League ball and So Cal Municipal Federation Tournaments for years with lead offs after it leaves pitchers hand... no stealing, but force play coming back if you take off on a swinging strike...

Just asking...

I have a question.... and maybe its been asked before and answered but I have only been playing Senior Ball for 2.5 years...

I know the base paths were lengthened a few years back from 65 to 70 feet.... But I have always been curious as to why there are no lead offs...

It seems to me, that as we age, what hurts our legs more than anything is stopping and starting. I know that's what kills my knees.. A walking start to get to full speed running the base paths seems to me would have less wear and tear and potentially reduce injuries ( pulled hamstrings... etc ).

This could be just my perception with no medical basis.

Thanks

If you are on a 50 M team, and not old enough to play 55's, you can play unsanctioned tournaments ( ASA, SCSSA, USSSA) with another 50's team.

Unfortunately you can't play SSUSA sanctioned events in SoCal ( San Clemente at end of August is the last remaining event in SoCal) unless the team adding you has a roster for that event is short handed. There is a one time roster exemption rule, but you should get clarification from George on how it works.

Greer,

Thank you for your response, however the Reno tournament was in May. And since we are based in CA unfortunately SSUSA would not allow us to use a player from MI.

Best of luck in your season.

Bill

Question to Staff, and I know its 3 months out:

For Shadow Rock, can you request that the grass be edged down the right field and left field in conjunction with the fair and foul lines?

In April, the grass was bad down the lines, and there was no painted line such that we all agreed ( umpires and managers) that if it hit grass it was fair, if it hit dirt it was foul.

Thank you for your help.

If you are playing in San Clemente on Saturday and Sunday and want to get some extra playing time in, we are in need of OF or SS help on Friday.

Let me know if you can help.

We are a 50AAA out of Southern California, and due to injury and a player moving to 50 M+, we find ourselves needing an outfielder or 2 for the remainder of the 2015 season.

Email me if interested at HC50ssoftball@gmail.com

Thanks.

Unfortunately, and someone can correct me if I am wrong. Because you won't turn 50 before 12/31/15, you are still not eligible for Worlds. The 2016 season begins in November and as long as you turn 50 before the end of 2016, then you can play the 2016 season as a 49 year old.

There is a 40 and over league that plays Saturday mornings. If you send me your contact information, I will forward it to some players I know that play in that league.

Due to injury and work schedule conflicts, 50 AAA Team looking for a couple of speedy outfielders for Rock N' Reno.

Prefer 55 players so I don't have to worry about releases, or affecting your status with 50's.

Contact me at hc50ssoftball@gmail.com.
