Discussion: RIP Glenn Thompson

I was then and am now saddened to learn of the passing of Glenn Thompson yesterday morning. Glenn was a total class act and a great Ambassador for Softball. The Senior Softball community is a tight knit group and Glenn planted himself right in the middle of it. Glenn always had time to talk and reminisce about Tournament Championships and league games alike.I'm not sure if I've ever met anyone that knew more softball players then Glenn, and had a story or scouting report on each one. Whether playing against his teams in our Rancho Cucamonga Senior league, or facing them in a Tournament is was always difficult task. Glenn's teams were always confident, cocky and often beat you you before the first pitch was ever thrown. They played with swagger and grit.
Glenn was an honorable, generous man, and had so much integrity.

I'm sure Glenn has already organized the best players in Heaven and is coaching them to victory.

Until we meet again my friend and
RIP former Alta Loma Brave

The 2nd out is recorded on the catch of the fly ball and the 3rd out is on the appeal play, nullifying any runs scoring.

Discussion: Senior Leagues in So Cal that allow more than single wall bats

Hey Smarkley3,Two options. I don't know if you are available Monday mornings but I play in a Senior 55 and over league at Perris BLD. We use Rock balls and senior bats. Nearly every player out there plays in Tournaments so the competition is really good. You can find that league if you google MVUDSS which stands for Menifee Valley Upper Division Senior Softball. The second option is in Rancho Cucamonga at Quakes Stadium. This is Thursday nights and again we get to use senior bats. This league is very competitive as well as about 75% of the players play tournaments. this is a 50 and over league with an upper and Lower Division. You can find this @ MLS Softball on the computer when you get to programs click on the Rancho Cucamonga link. Good luck

Wew, this league is about half way through the season. If I were you I would show up on Thursday night and see if any teams need a player. I have noticed the past few games some teams have had a hard time fielding a full team.

Congratulations to AZ Elite this past weekend for winning the Tourney in Bull Head in less than ideal conditions. That wind was tough. Small little Tourney that has attracted the Best of the Best recently. At Least in the 50's division.

Discussion: Change in Ratings.

Is it just me, or are the new Ratings for teams that are getting bumped due to their performance in Worlds in Vegas slow to come out this year? I am pretty sure last year they were out already. At least in the men's 50 divisions. The 50's division was played a week before the 55's and there has been some teams bumped in the 55's but not the 50's. does anyone know why, and when these will be posted?

Discussion: Teams going to Call Cup in Hemet

L A F 50 Major will be there. We played in Hemet in a So. Cal Senior Softball event Yesterday June 21st and Today June 22 as a tune up for the Cal Cup and Beat Arizona Elite a 50 Major + team in the finals 36-24. Any teams not already entered in the Cal Cup should sign up there is still time. There is a tourney in San Clemente the same weekend July 13th and 14th that we normally play in but the Cal Cup is a much bigger event and is not normally in Southern California. The fields in Hemet are nice and this is a great facility with 8 fields on site.

Discussion: Dimarini One

Dimarini The One.
The Hottest Bat I have ever swung, ( 28 oz end load ) Our team, LAF 50 major had one end load and one balanced to demo in Bullhead City tournament Feb 27, 28 and Mar 1. The bat was literally hot out of the wrapper. It took about 25 swings to reach its maximum potential. The ball jumped even more impressively then my rebook end load. We have some big boppers on our team, at least two players with 400 foot homeruns in them. In bullhead we hit with it in batting practice in the morning hitting heavy wet balls and then used it in tourney games and everyone to a man thought it was awesome. We figure we had about 450-475 swings on it before it broke. The End load is considerably better then the balanced.

We have played Az Elite a few times and everyone on their team has one or more and most seem to swing the end loaded version.

We as a team are looking to purchase 10-12 of these bats in a package deal if someone has them available at the right price. Let me know if we can work out a deal.

50 Major+ Winner

Az Elite ( only Major + team entered in the tournament and they lost to 50 Major winner Rawlings.

50 Major winner

1) Rawlings
2) L A F
3) Az Knuckleheads
4) R M Thunder

Great tournament under less than ideal conditions, wind 20- 40 mph on Friday and Saturday with gusts well beyond that, Sunday was a lot better. The only real issues is why can a Major + team be allowed to stay in the Tournament in Elimination play and be able to send teams home? I understand the seeding rounds.
The Major + team in this case were the champs in their division and still would have been even if they didn't win a game. Just saying
