Nancy I may be back in Indy area visiting and will come out for the Brickyard and hopefully get an opportunity to see you and everyone. I'm very happy that the ceremony went well and sorry I wasn't able to attend.

Discussion: 2015 Combat Dirty G3 Reload

I had the opportunity to swing the new 2015 Dirty last week and I'm in full agreement with Mark. I liked the old Dirty (it was my gamer bat) but the new Dirty has some improvements and comes out of the wrapper hotter and has a very solid feel about it. Ron "Barney" Barnhart and Steve Owens was hitting with me and Barney was hitting some balls around the 375 marker with a bat with less than 50 swings on it. Kelly has posted a video of us hitting on his website.

Vinny,
Good Luck in Florida I'm sure you will get all the ball that you want in the Sunshine state. Florida teams will enjoy Vinny he really loves the game and he can play it the way it needs to be played.
Good Luck and stay in touch.

Bill was special for Indianapolis Softball and he will be missed. Those of us who played out of Indy and had the opportunity to play with/for Bill will always remember him as a big supporter of softball but even more of the players who played for him. I'm lucky to have had him as a friend. Nancy thinking of you and if I can help in any way call me.

Webbie glad everything is going well for you in your recovery and I know you will be back out hitting bombs soon. Just be smart about it and I'm sure Bogie can work out any kinks in your swing....maybe he can help you hit the ball 450' consistently instead of your measly 400'!!!

Another fun and informational video in you series .... Great Job and keep it up!! You have to be impressed with these 70's stars (except for the butt sequence.) I know Hank Cluess, Matt Link and Gary Pro would have loved to be in Florida hitting with you and your 70's Bomb Squad!!!!

Discussion: CERTAIN FEES!!

Just played in the Menifee tournament (SSUSA sponsored event which normally guarantees 5 games)last week and we only played 4 games not the normal 5 game guarantee. We played 65's Thursday and Friday.
It cost individuals and team sponsors money to travel to these tournaments and it seems unjust to get only 4 games. We did have the best 2 out of 3 games for the championship but only needed 2 games not sure if that figured into the equation.
We did receive the $3 hat. Well run tournament no complaints in that department...

Bob I would agree we all have a certain amount of ego otherwise we wouldn't be playing softball. I also agree you have some excellent points about the big boys only getting 10 HR's per game. They are a little younger than us and do make a living off of the game but your point is a solid one. I also agree with southernson a point that has been basically overlooked in this thread.

My main point is "why change the rule?" I still haven't received an answer.

Perl if those are the correct scores from Major Plus Las Vegas tournament and I'm sure they are then I would think they fall in the acceptable range of scores for the 50 Major Plus.

Pointed out that the 60 Major Plus had tremendous parity this year among all 9 teams.

Just be thankful you can still play. - another great point...

I'm just saying...right PattyMac!

Discussion: Why Not Have A Players Committee Of Real Players To Over See The Rules

PattyMac,

I didn't think I would have to worry about hitting HR's at the age of 65???

Las Vegas with the Rock ball with DBO's???

If they do a survey and the results states everyone wants DBO's then so be it. I just don't get the idea of not doing a survey.

We will adjust and do fine as will our teams but, just don't agree with the new ruling.

I'm just saying.

I'm kinda of at a loss for words. DBO don't like the rule and because of that I guess I fall in the egomaniacs category!! Emotional subject with many unusual responses and accusations flying around. Regardless of if you agree or not this is not the end of the world just don't agree with the rule.

I would agree it's a business and they have every right to make a profit and I realize it's a tremendous amount of work and time to maintain an organization such as SSUSA. They have great people who are doing tremendous jobs of running a challenging task. They just pulled off an almost 500 team tournament and overall did an exceptional job. However as in any good business organization you should listen to customers and what they want. Profits and losses should reflect how well an organization does this.

As a good friend of mine would say, "Iím just saying."

Paco13 in my earlier comment I was not in any way putting down any players or teams at any level. We have great players and teams through out all of Senior Softball. In my opinion Major Plus applies to the team more than the player because you have players throughout the different division that could play at Major Plus level and play great- it's a decision to play Major Plus (or not) because of the rules, personal choices and competition level of all of the teams at that level. Other levels of softball are highly challenging and enjoyable for players. It's a personal choice at all levels.
Alan one other comment we only see the Rock ball in the two Las Vegas tournaments.

I still don't know what prompted the change in the rules. I play 60 and 65 Major Plus and we have a lot of good hitters in both divisions (You have a lot of good hitters in the other divisions as well but I'm speaking mainly about Major and Major Plus.) I have not seen the 400 and 375 ft MISSED balls going out of the park, maybe in the 50 & 55 divisions that happens. I have seen balls go that far but they were hit very hard. Do balls go out on 300 ft fences when not hit solidly - occasionally in all divisions? The point of this thread is rules were changed and we don't understand why! Many of the discussion points are good but need their own thread.
We will and can adapt to the new rules it just doesn't mean that we like the new rules or agree with it.
