Discussion: What does a rattle mean

HJ: knobs are glued to the handle with a viscous component. The glue or paste like substance used can and often does have parts of the glue break of inside the bat and for the most part, it is probably a hardened glob of glue rattling around. Without seeing the bat firsthand, it is probably not anything to worry about. I have it in one of my bats and it has no performance issues.

Discussion: GSC SENIOR BAT IN RENO

Bob, I can appreciate your candid posts and I understand your engineering mentality. My father was a structural engineer and a bridge builder in the south. He built the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, SC and the Cape Fear River Bridge in Wilmington, NC among others. I worked with him building bridges for a number of years and recognized that engineering mentality first hand. Things need to be proven and not speculated.

It was in Charleston, where I was visiting for my 40th James Island High School reunion, that I visited the plant where the GSC bats are being manufactured. I met the young engineer who Steve McKinley searched out and my wife and I spent an afternoon with him.

I was particularly impressed with his knowledge of industrial coatings, composite fabrication and engineering. He was at the top of his college engineering class. I spent 14 years in fiberglass, epoxy, and urethane application and fabrication in the Carolinas prior to moving to Colorado. I have interacted with numerous professionals in the industry over the years and I believe I looked at his plant with a critical eye. Steve could not have selected better in my opinion. Another aspect that I felt was very impressive to me was the integrity level that I saw in this young engineer. He will not cut corners even though there has been a great voice from players wanting to see and use a bat yesterday, if you will. As he shared with me, his goal is to manufacture the best quality bat possible and in doing so, has taken time to evolve to that point. I hear about the performance and the durability of the latest and recently approved bat and I believe truth is being shared but because I perhaps have inherited an engineering mentality, I also want to swing it here where I play ball and test other bats.

There are players who want to order the P413 from me and I have a reservation list but I have not and will not charge a cc until the bats are built and ready to be shipped and until I get to use one myself here in the Rockies to compare to the bats I am currently using. I've done business with hundreds of ball players and they count on my reliability.

Bottom line, the P413 will soon be on the scene and players will no doubt migrate to the bat if it in fact meets the criteria that has been shared by the folks at GSC and those who have been testing the prototypes. I can remember approximately 3 years ago when the Melee Legend by Reebok was new. Almost no one knew anything about it back then.

Thanks for allowing me to respond to your threads. I believe that healthy criticism is a good thing.

I am interested in gathering any information available on team jersey options. Have a local league team looking to buy good looking jerseys at reasonable price. They do not have sponsorship so price is a factor.

I've umpired many games here and she would help you if you can get her to come. She is solid defensively and is a strong hitter. She has a great attitude as well.

I'd like to send a congrats to the AZ Rangers for a tough and hard fought game Sunday morning beating us in extra innings. I'd also like to send a shout out to California Extreme for the long and hard fought Saturday evening game that went into extra innings as well with a 42-39 final giving us the win. I will not soon forget that game and it was one that you hate to have a loss because everyone hit so well throughout.

Also wanted to say that Results Realty from Vegas was a hitting machine when they played us on the Fenway Park stadium at Big League Dreams.

Wishing all safe travels to/home and hope to see you down the road.

Discussion: P413 revisited

HJ: I had an older generation bat since December. I used it in Florida, Tucson, Bullhead City and in Telluride, Colorado. It was solid and for me, was nearly equivalent to my Reebok Melee Legend in distance. The newer bat just approved, I have not yet had the opportunity to hit but I will hopefully get to soon.

There will be weights of 26-29 and perhaps a 30 later on. The bats are built in Charleston, SC and I can't wait to swing the new approved model in the mountains and in the colder climate in which we hit.
Thanks,
EA

Discussion: P413 revisited

The GSC senior bat P413 was approved for SSUSA yesterday and bat manufacturing will begin. I have been taking reservations and have not been charging anyone until they tell me the bats are ready to be shipped.

Obviously people have a choice and there are senior options out there but if anyone needs my assistance with a P413 senior bat, do not hesitate to call me and I will make sure you are on my early order list.

Thanking the many players who have been patient and understanding with regard to the development of the P413. It has been appreciated by the engineer and the entire GSC staff.

If I am chosen to help you with your bat needs, I promise to do my best as I have been doing for the past 3 years with Reebok bats. Like many of you, I am a senior ball player and an accountable businessman.

Doug, I played ball for a number of years on Hilton Head Island, just down the coast from Beaufort. You may want to contact the HHI recreation department to check if there are senior teams in the area.

Hope to see many of my old mates on the week-end and wishing all safe travels to and from the "V". If you see me at the tournament please come say hello. I'll be wearing a smile cause I'll be out of the snow playing ball with the Boys.

Ozzie, ASA/USSSA approved bats are legal to be used in SSUSA and SPA. The senior bats have more performance ratings than the ASA and USSSA bats. I believe you are ok to use your bat.

The "Melee Legends" will look exactly the same. The "Barrage" USSSA/NSA/ISA will be dark with white lettering/airbrush grey and yellow band above the handle. The "Barrage Legend" will be dark with white lettering/airbrush grey and orange band above the handle.

All 2013 line will say Reebok on the barrels.
