Discussion: Its Unanimous - The Best Senior Softball Players Are in California and Florida

This rule needs to be reconsider. Talking to a player today and the word going around is that this rule was put in to benefit the owner of SSUSA and his teams W.E. Ruth out of Washington. I do not see the logic unless someone can explain it " like if I was a 5 yr old ". Alot of teams bordering California will be hurt if not totally destroyed.
Florida teams for the most part will not leave Florida for major tournaments because of the Florida Half Century League. That leaves alot of players looking for teams outside the state for the opportunity to play in the worlds, nationals etc.
Someone help me out here!!!!

Discussion: New home run rules

Listen, we all know that our senior bats are being alter. I was shock to what extend it is going on. I have had many players come out and tell me what they do to their bats. It is going on in AA all the way to Major plus. Now these are the hottest bats made and we are still doctoring them.
Now, I understand the rush from hitting HRs, but when I see 150-175 lb men hitting ball 350 plus. And the big boys hitting some 450' plus. Something is not right.
We did it to ourselves. So, I am in favor of giving the new rules a try. I do not think it will stop the doctor bats. But, at least the field will be leveled, somewhat.
The true homerun hitters will be hurt. {HI Bogie and Joe.} But something needs to done. Just my thoughts. Bob

Discussion: thoughts on FLA NAPLES

Florida fields as a whole are mediocre. The grass in the outfields are usually manicure and fairly nice. But, the batter boxes are a joke. Every field the boxes, especially for right handers are never fill in and tamped. They just fill in the craters with loose dirt or sand. I rarely seen that problem out West. I do not know who to bitch too, so I will do it here. Playing the 55 AAAs we also had problems with the sun for the 8AM games. Bob

Discussion: No one really cares about player safety!

Florida Half Century has just put in place a rule, that a screen will be used if the sun is blinding the pitcher. I think they are going to committee to disgust the situations that would arise by having a screen on the field. Bob

Congratulations Sonn. Great job to you and Hosey, Corey and the rest of the team!! I was told that no team east of the Mississippi could win the nationals against the big, bad west coast teams. I have 2 questions, first, how did your sister team do, the Rhinos and the 2nd question is NOW WHAT???? Bob Farmer

Discussion: Bring back the grey combat !!!!!!!!

Because of Walk, Stoney and my friends here in Florida, I think that I might have spoken to soon. But all I heard was {hot out of the wrapper} and in 25 swings the bat was ready to go, etc. All someone had to say was it breaks in like the Grays. Thanks for the knowledge. Bob

Discussion: Bring back the grey combat !!!!!!!!

Heard all these great comments on the new Macenko Combat Gear. Could not wait to get my hands on one. When I first saw the bat it look like the Virus Combat Gear painted yellow. I never liked the virus gear and I knew of no one that did. Now, I am not a big home run hitter, but this new combat has alot to be desire. People I hit with say it hits like the virus, in fact one person said that it is a virus painted yellow. We hit over 100 swings with 375 44 core balls and it does not come close to the U II or the gray combat. Now, maybe it has to be broken in more, but it goes into my bag as a practice bat only.
I am down to 1 gray combat and was looking for a backup. Now, I have purchase a Ultra 2 as my backup till I can find someone willing to sale a end loaded gray.
Just one mans opinon, I could be wrong. BRING BACK THE GRAYS!!!!!!! Bob

Joe,
I guess the tournament was a success this year. Since there are few to no responses. Last year there were numerous posts on how bad it was, I being one. So, maybe contrats to LVSSA for getting it right or doing a better job. Bob

Where was the umpire in this situation. If you are the umpire in large tournament, you should not care about any side deals and applyed the rules to the situation. I have never heard anything like this. Boy, could you imagine what could happen if side deals were allow in all games. CHAOS But, after witnessing last years umpiring in the LSSVA, it does not surprise me. Bob

Discussion: USSSA Senior Nats

Played 55AAA, the balls were OK, could not use senior bats but we knew that going in. We had 4 teams in our division. In the 3 games we played there were 6 HRs. Fields were mediocre at best, not what you expect for a national. We had 1 outfielder fall over the temporary fence. He was not hurt. Umpiring was so, so. We had trouble with the ball and strikes, and the faking, but almost never playing USSSA, I did not know what to expect.
It did not feel like a national tournament. But what did we expect from a organization that drop out of the senior summitt. It tells me that U-trip does not care about senior softball. Most of the players including our coach said that they would not play u-trip again.
That being said, congrats to the teams that won the tournament. We did play 2 teams that we have never played. Bob

Dirty,
No one is forcing us to play. But, our team likes the game and we enjoy playing against different teams. All I am trying to do is inform other players, teams, on what is going on at certain tournaments, so they will have better information in deciding where to play. I think that some of these associations are telling us in a round about way that they do not care about senior softball. I am hard headed but, I am starting to get the picture. Bob

THE SCHEDULES WERE SUPPOSE TO BE AVAILABLE TO THE MANAGERS TUESDAY MORNING. BUT, AS USUAL THEY WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NOW ARE TO BE POSTED USSSA WEB SITE. BUT AS OF 1030PM, NOTHING. I GUESS IT IS TO BE A CONFIDENTIAL THING, TO BE A SURPRISE WHEN WE SHOW UP.
I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THAT SSUSA OR MAYBE SPA { THE JURY IS STILL OUT } ARE THE ONLY ASSOCIATIONS THAT KNOW HOW TO RUN A TOURNAMENT. WE WILL SEE HOW THINGS GO NOW THAT RAIN MIGHT BE A FACTOR THIS WEEKEND. BOB

Kevin,
Wished that the new combats will come out soon, so those of us without connections will be able to purchase them. I have broken 2 of my grays and now, I am down to 2 bats. I only use the combat.
