Discussion: Fields at Shadow Rock

Pizzaboy, first of all I love Pizza's I bet you make a mean tasting Pizza. Have to try it sometime. Take another look at my message. I stated that we played on Fields 3 & 4 only. By anyone's standard they are more than adequate, in Fact they are Good. Now, Fields 1&2 are Bad !If they are not the worst fields I have ever played on, they are damn close. Played on Fields 1&2 a few years back they were horrible and still are. So I hope I cleared the air re: my comments. We are in agreement re: Fields 1&2.
Rest Easy, glad you gave me a chance to clarify.

We played all Day Games on Fields 3 & 4 only. Being that the outfields were artificial turf they played FAST and with high bounces you could adjust to. Infield is dirt and fairly well maintained. So all in all Fields were good.

Discussion: Getting released from a team you don't want to play for any longer

I am glad that greyhitter59 was released. I am in the camp that if a player wants to be released so be it, I release him. A couple of years ago my Team became a Major Team, we earned the Rating and were proud to have achieved the Rating... and then it happened ! All of a sudden the vultures started circling our Team, they started recruiting our players, even in front of me in the BLD snack bar in Las Vegas. I of course was offended these so call Teams have no class. They know who they are. If I knew which Team they were with I would post it. But really it isn't that relevant. In the end we won the Winter Worlds that year then went to the Spring Worlds and were blasted out of the Tourney. At that point our Team was decimated by defections of players to other Teams. I Released all Players that requested their release without prejudice. They remain my friends to this day. Others on our Team that were also recruited stuck it out till the end of the season. I will always honor their loyalty. If the players that left us would have stayed with us and with our new players no question we could have been a force to be reckoned with. It was not to be. With-in 4 months of that year we went from possible decent Major Team to an average AAA Team. We could not compete. We end up finishing the year as a Major Team. the next year we were re-rated AAA. A tough year indeed, but still we played we competed we enjoyed the game. Bottom line, Release the player, in the end its a Game, enjoy it, don't spoil it.
All's well that ends well

Agree that Donnie ran the Tourney well. Did not enjoy the wait time on Wednesday 6 and half hours, then we turn around and lost the game ! Understand that it couldn't be help then again sometimes it is best not to be the #1 Seed, go figure. Still, enjoyed playing. Thank You Top Gun/SSUSA.

Discussion: DoublePlay 55 softball team dissolves

Anna & Paul, sorry to hear that you are folding Doubleplay. You were the only Major Team that welcomed our Team Git-R-Done to the 55 Majors. We never could beat you guys, too tough. We also appreciate that in a sportsmanship way,you suggested that we asked to be dropped back to AAA. At the end of the year we were moved to AAA, but too late, we could not get enough 55 Player's to keep active. So it goes. All the best to you both and your future endeavors.

Git-R-Done Softball has a website,gitrdonesoftball.org
It probably could be a story of many Tournament Teams playing in Senior Softball. It is about our organization and tells about the trials and tribulations of playing "our game". I am sure that many Teams can relate.

Duke we appreciate your kind words. You are aware of our Git-R-Done's philosophy. Not a good fit for some player's or organizations. Work's for us. Having been Honored with the Steve Simmons Sportsmanship Award. We were surprised, but we feel that it epitomizes what we are about. Don't get me wrong we always try to Win no question it is more Fun to Win than to lose. We just have a slightly different approach. This is not to say that the our style of playing is any better than the many other approaches Teams use, it is just what we call, The Git-R-Done Way.
Andy, Martha and I are Wishing you a Healthy Softball Year of Competition. See ya on the Fields.

Now I know what, "Beating a Dead Horse to Death", is all about. I feel sorry for the Horse. Well people had their say, they made their hay and now to the betterment of Senior Softball they've gone away. Thank You Fran & SSUSA for ending this poor horse's misery.
