| Feb. 2, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Want to play! # 2 well Mr M why do you feel the need to bring common sense to this,LOL. i can't tell you how many times i've watched a game on tv and seen some real homer calls on base hits and such, and oh don't let the home team pitcher be going for a no hitter,or the opposite for the away team. |
| Feb. 2, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Bats Discussion: SPA survey most likely bruce and most did from the hitters perspective, not the fielders side.i really would like to see who really likes having to field balls hit at them at our ages from these hot bat/ball combo's,i would say the MAJORITY don't really like the missiles hit at them. |
| Feb. 2, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Bats Discussion: SPA survey jano,to me it looks like all responded from the hitters point of view,is what i'm trying to say.nothing really about having to field a missile hit at ya(from pitchers or fielders).i saw no responses, regarding the safety of anyone. |
| Feb. 2, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Want to play! # 2 hey dipty, why don't you come to our tourney's and be our official score keeper.hell MLB can barely make its mind up on hits and errors, why do we.looks just like another thing for you to complain about from outside the game, that your not allowed to play.come play and then you'll have something to complain about. |
| Feb. 1, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Want to play! # 2 wood,M and the rest;we figure ours basically the same way,if you hit ball that does not cause an out to be made, than your good,if an out is made(aka fielder's choice and such)than it counts against ya.sure saves on the hit or not hit arguments. |
| Feb. 1, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Old As Dirt, But Young At Heart. yep dirt here also, how many have got their fingers caught in the washer ringer,i'm not confessing to anything tho,LOL.was watching b/w tv in 55,watching howdy doody. |
| Jan. 31, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Bats Discussion: SPA survey stever go back and read my post again please,it includes all players, not just pitchers.there are 10 positions on the field(tho only 9 are directly involved with fielding a hit ball) as i remember.like i said, i didn't see a lot of comments from fielders,or pitchers.all i saw was a bunch of comments from guys who want to hit a ball so no one will be able to field it,even if they are in place to try and do so.the new bats are just plain stupid,i wish i had been sent a survey to fill out. |
| Jan. 31, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Bats Discussion: SPA survey well it also looks like mostly hitters responded,no real responses from fielders or pitchers that i can see. |
| Jan. 28, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tanel R.A.G.E, Bat Bag Question sloball they are a good shoe,i have 2 pr.if you have a wide foot they are great. |
| Jan. 28, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Anonymity on the board well as usual a question asked but no answer to it,just a dissertation and a half of no substance. pitcherman i have to agree with ya,if it has validity why has there to be a name attached to it. |
| Jan. 28, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Want to play! # 2 wood yeah your right,i would consider the players mentality also.myself i don't like batting in the 4-5 spots, even tho i have the power to do it on some teams that i play on.the old stone age i used to play for i batted 6th and felt at ease there(oh and that was one of those teams where we could bat 12 with no problem).i have always liked having a big hitter behind me also, makes me a lead off type hitter, just get on any way i can,let him bring me around. |
| Jan. 28, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Want to play! # 2 wood, been done that when i have run a team.i chose the defensive player and save runs being score on us and won that way.i would also let the other 2 hit tho if their bats were good.so for me batting 12 was/is no problem. i used to classify my hitters this way. hi avg = .750 above good .600-.700 med avg = .500-.600 1 = basehitter hi avg 2= basehitter good avg and some power 3 = good to hi avg and good power 4 = mid avg,hi power this is how i would try and bat them 1,3,2,3,3,4,2,4,2,1 for 10 and for the last 2 if batting 12 they had better be a 2 or 3 type hitter. |
| Jan. 28, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Anonymity on the board ok so there are 5 or 6 guys standing around that don't know each other, they happen to be having a heated discussion on a subject(any subject, doesn't matter)does it matter(that they don't know each other) as long as what they say has validity.it's the same here on this message board,as long as there is validity to their message, there should be no problem with anomitity(sp). zorro also wore a mask and was a good guy, |
| Jan. 27, 2010 mad dog | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Want to play! # 2 who knows #6.here is a question for ya's,ya have 8 guys who are solid hitters and defenders, and ya have 4 (2 solid hitters .650 and above,so-so defenders tho;and 2 solid defenders but just .500 hitters)do ya put all 4 in the lineup or just go with the 2 hitters,or 2 defenders. |
| Jan. 27, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Pitcher Protection Gear thanks JR,i'll have to give it a shot and see what i'll have to be putting up with.i don't pitch a lot for senior ball, just when i play with the kids. |
| Jan. 27, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: want to play well i guess it can be that way,but i have played on teams where we had 12-13 guys who came close for their hitting ability,it was defense where they weren't that equal.let me say once a team gets hitting the so call lower ability guys seem to just catch on and go.we also would put a good hitter or 2 at the bottom to turn us over(ones who could easily bat in the top 5)and put the so call lower ability guys scattered thru the lineup. |
| Jan. 27, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Pitcher Protection Gear JR was it real bad when looking down,i just got one to use when i pitch for the kids and haven't used it yet.also i'm thinking of using the under armour skull cap(one you see the footballers use under their helmets),i use them now under my hat(or alone at night when there is no sun) as it can be very humid here in Texas. for the shin guards,i have got a pair of hockey shin guards,as they are made to stop a hockey puck at 100 mph. |
| Jan. 27, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: want to play the way i see it,if you have 12 guys who hit good, than to me that's your best way to go.you have 2 guys to rotate in for rest on defense, big deal your don't go thru the lineup more.if everyone is hitting,no prol, and this will also rest your team by not having to run so much, unless your one of those that require a runner, than have to have one of your teammates run for you(thats what your 13th and more guys can be for). omar keep posting and don't bother with the naysayer that can't get at you, your better for it. |
| Jan. 26, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: want to play omar you posted while i was typing.you are dead on about the defense needing to be there.if the guy doesn't do it as good as he used or better than another on the team, then its the defender who is gonna play for me.now if the other guys is hitting real good, well he is in the batting order to hit and that's,that. oh make 3 difficult catches in a row,how about just 3 normal ones,DOH LOL. |
| Jan. 26, 2010 mad dog | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: want to play this question can be debated till the world goes away, and still not have a suitable answer for everyone.i believe you can bat all if you are only carrying 12 or 13,but only if all are hitting equally good.we usually have a 5 man rotation in the INF and OF going for rest, that makes for 12 guys and carry 1 or 2 more just in case. but it is real hard to have guys pay their way and not get to play,i don't think i could do it,unless i was really stinking it up. |
