How about limiting CR's by division. Major + and Major division would get the least, say one per inning and AA would get unlimited. After all, Major + and Major divisions are supposed to be the best players and part of being a good player is being able to run..........

Gary, I live in Vegas and 30 years we were able to play USSSA and ASA "B" tournaments in town with a fair number of local teams and C was loaded. Now with 5 times as many people there are no "C" tournaments due to zero local "C" teams. WTH!
Only tournaments are "D" and "E".
"E" in this mans opinion ruined softball and was nothing more than a money grab by the organizations.
Swampy, I am with you. Unlimited home runs does not appeal to me. I like a little D in a game. Maybe it's because it's the only part of the game left that technology and pharmaceuticals can't make you good at.

I got a 26 last week and put about 20 swings on it. It seemed pretty hot right out of the wrapper. To early to make a call on durability.

I swing a Original Freak and a Long Haul for league and BP. The only time I use my Senior bats is during tournament games. It certainly makes my senior bats last a lot longer.

Jaw,
I think you're right. I don't know of anything that can fix the problem because the facts are some teams/players are just better that others and most don't want equalizers etc. I just felt they should do something to make the plus divisions more attractive while somewhat handicapping the rest, thereby motivating teams to want to move up. Seems they have done the exact opposite.
Well whatever they do I for one will continue to enjoy the game.

Jawood, Don't you think that will give teams even less motivation to play Major+. I for one like the home run limits as it puts a little more emphasis on playing "D" and makes teams loaded with power hitters want to move up.
Oh well, what do I know.

I play Major and don't like the equalizer, don't like the idea of merging Major and Major + any more than I would Major and AAA. The teams are classified for a reason. Some are just better than others.
Major + should be unlimited HR's and let the bombers bomb. Leave everything else as is. By looking at the numbers the only division in trouble is Major Plus which indicates that style of ball isn't attractive to most players.

Congratulations to West Coast on their win. Anytime somebody beats Rapid Erectors they have earned it the hard way.
Great tournament and looking forward to doing it again in Phoenix.

Discussion: REALLY, WHY ARE THERE LESS TEAMS?

It's crazy to show up on Friday only to play 2 games, especially in the 50 division. I would rather play twice as many on Saturday and save myself a day of hotel charges.

Discussion: Home Runs for Outs

I like the home run limits. Nothing more boring than standing in the field watching home run single after home run single go over the fence. You get to play a lot of three inning games that way, and I will bet bat cheats will come out of the woodwork.
I say have home run outs in every division except Major +. Let them hit all they want. This will make it more attractive so teams will want to move up and also make Major + a totally voluntary classification. You want to hit home runs move up. If you want to play the other divisions learn a little bat control.
As for the LVSSA Joe's right. It's the bomb.

I'm beginning to think the G Men could be done as well. Losing to Houston? WTH! As for whos got the better line-up, the best Giants players are on the DL, so the D Bax most certainly are the better team right now, but you never know.

Joe, I remember Sonny Vacarro. I've been around that long. I also played with the guy who does it now Kenny White. I believe he won the Super book contest at least twice.
As for all this talk of anyone from the Diamondbacks winning any award, when the Giants come back and beat them up with the beat-up AAA squad they are putting on the field, that allk will all cease and Bochy will be manager of the year and Panda MVP.

Discussion: Nokona Glove Overhaul

Hey Guys,
My Nokona that I've had for the last 15 years was getting a little long in the tooth. The inside was rotted out, the thumb and pinky finger straps were both broken etc. It is the best glove I've ever had so I hated to part with it. I contacted Nokona and they provide me an RMA # to return it to them for an estimate for repair. I just got it back, after about 4 weeks and it's basically a new glove. All the damaged areas were totally replaced and the charge was only $80.00. As it was 180.00 new so it seems like a good deal to me.
One more reason to buy the only glove made in the USA.

Discussion: patch field

I agree worst fields I've played on in some time. Also I passed a Wind Farm on the way into town which tells me high winds are the norm as they don't put those in places the wind doesn't blow all the time.
Patch was just apoor choice all around

Discussion: How do the other major teams feel about major and major plus in western national

Hey Tim,
Played in Vacaville with the Spot. While we did not play a Major + team I'm in total agreement that in a National Qualifier Major teams should not have too at least not without being notified well in advance. I would not mind playing against them in exhibition games, but no way should any game against them count towards seeding or elimination. Let them play a few exhibitions against the Majors and then they can go play a two out of three against each other.
I also question the wisdom of planning a tournament in a known wind tunnel on poorly maintained fields, with a poorly planned schedule. I think with the money we play we deserve better.

It sounds like no one is quite sure what is legal. I pitched the first two games for The Spot Bar and used some of the pitches described above, pivoting with both feet, windmill without passing hip twice etc. The other teams complained but the umpire did not nor did I consider them illegal pitches although I don't think either of us was sure.
All I know is I'll do whatever I can to get a guy to miss a ball.
I have not read any pitching rules for SSUSA but I thought they were similar to NSA which I ump. Seems to me the this should all ne part of the managers meeting before the tournament so everyone is clear and certainly shouldn't be part of a championship game.
Where might one read the rules?
