Discussion: 50 MAJOR & MAJOR PLUS COMBINED

I second what Timmy said about NCSSA... it provides us with Great opportunity to play and with the one up rule and the runs spotted makes for lower level teams to compete with the big boys..

@rightrj1, who you kidding.. you don't go from 50+ to 55 major.. you will be a great player at 55... quit politicking.. Dave D will see right thru you! ;-)

Never combine the major and + division... only the upper 5 percent can compete in + ball if lucky.. plus ball usually has sponsors to cover cost.. End of Story.

Discussion: So the question was....how to get more teams to play Major Plus

I hear you Cal50.. I'm not sure about only three divisions.. I don't really know anything about the AAA and AA divisions. I do know that there are all kinds of different talent levels and there is a purpose for those divisions... I think you have to have at least 20 to 30 m+ teams in the 50s to make it attractive to playin in... when I came to the fiftys 3 years ago, I believe there were only 12 teams in the entire country! They listed more, but there were teams that weren't even teams anymore AKA Five Spot. last year, I looked around and found 20 plus teams in 50s+.. That is a huge difference then playing the same 5 to 6 teams that was happening 3 years ago at the worlds..

Cal 50, SSUSA has to make money, giving teams the potential to win a world championship in lower divisions make it more enticing for teams to participate, hence SSUSA makes more $$$$... I for one, play 50+ ball and would not want to see a water down division... I think what SSusa did last year was the correct way...instead of bumping one or two teams they bumped a bunch. which increase 50+ division to where we had a nice turnout in Vegas. I believe this is truly the right direction to go and I know for a fact there are many major teams that have no business playing against + ball caliber teams! IMO

Discussion: How to get more teams willing to play in the Major-plus division

BTW Tim, you have a very nice 55 team with a bunch of great guys on it.. you have a very good chance to do a lot of damage in 55plus ball this year. how would you like to be broken up to just 6 players at the end of the year? would suck, don't you think?

Well Tim.. I think that you have the wrong perspective on this. Instead of looking at the big bad Dynasty teams as a bad thing.. you should look at them as a challenge... That is how I look at it.. I always like to challenge myself, and to make the other team notice my team and myself who we are as a team and as a player... and if I play my game and my team plays their game, we have a chance to beat anyone on any given occasion.

Can't tell you how many times my teams in past were
the underdogs and we beat them.. JK INC had a record of 3Zillion and 1 one year.. and my 12angry team out of SF had two Rec ball players on it.. Beat them.. That is what it's all about in my book.. Knocking the Dynasty team off their Perch..

Anyway, looking at last years 50major plus world, We had enough teams, enough balance, and I felt that anyone could of won that tourney. A team My injured team beat, won it all.. so, the fact that SSUSA bumped a bunch of teams last year is working in my book.. IMO

What ever you do, it should not just be a couple of teams moving up.. For the record, it did look like SSUSA got it right last year. My Warriors team wasn't the only team to get moved up last year! Also, it shouldn't be done until after the final tourney of the year... Never in the middle of the year! IMO

another plus of donating is you can have a nice write off at the end of the year.. say if the value of 200 T shirts at $10.00 a peace = $2k write off! I have donated to the Goodwill and got a receipt for my donations in the past....

Dr's don't like using cortisone to much. It can destroy the tissue if used to much..there are great videos online on how to tape for Planter Fasciitis!

One more thing Jaywood, I tape up before everytime I play.. tape like I have a sprained ankle and also wrap up the front of the foot before the arch.. it works wonders..

Jaywood, first thing you have to do is get the swelling down... cortisone shot is the quickest way.. after this you have to have a regiment of wall stretching and maybe an orthotic.. I had it 3 years ago and have not had a problem since, and I keep up the wall stretching before and after games and every other day when I get up.. The Wall stretching has helped others, that I recommended it to that were having the beginning signs of pain.. It worked for everyone I told so far. FYI

Discussion: Please Forgive My Naivete!

For me it's being on a competitive team... If I feel my team has a chance to win, I don't mind the losing when it happens... I feel blessed that I'm on a Team that feels like family and has some great ball players on it...And we win our fair share.. I have had the chance to play on paid teams before and have always stuck with a competitive teams with my friends.. hopefully, I will end my career the same way.. Happy New Year!

Hey Omar,, we will see you next year, same place.. As far as the hot bats... I play in the upper divisions and it is far from a homer fest.. I know for a anecdotal fact ;-) that if they banned the bats and dumb down the balls, Senior Softball would lose more players than gain players who are not playing because of Bats being to hot.. Happy New Year to everyone!
