NOT real happy with SSUSA right now. Monaco Mayhem team
We took over the team of CE John. A 65AA team. Some of the guys moved up to 70 so we needed to fill a few spots. We filled them with guys who are fun to play with and like to have a good time. Not great ball players by any means, just guys who want to hit some and play a fun game of ball. Not a competitive bone in any of their bodies.
We played in Lacy this past weekend. Round-robin format and got our ass handed to us. But we had a blast. We got beat by 70's team and that was ok. We had fun!
We got informed today we have been raised to AAA. Unbelievable. We add players who are REC players at best and this happens. We are now an A team if anything.
Got an email from our sponsor today. He isn't happy either. He sponsors 5 teams total in SSUSA and he wants us to find a different organization to play for. UTrip, ASA, whatever. Truthfully we did pick up a AAA rated player but he is a wounded duck. He can't throw anymore and his legs are now toast.
It's just sad that now we have to go play in a division where we have ABSOLUTELY no chance of even being a little competitive.
So fellas, lots like if this isn't resolved, we won't be around much longer
You are a great bunch of guys. Hope to see you all on the field one day. You too can say you rained on Mayhem...:)

It's no wonder SSUSA is losing members to other orginizations. ANTIQUATED RULES and the new ones just implemented, are just as bad.

Big Mike. We played you the last game and it was a good even game. You guys were a lot of fun. Hope to see you at the memorial tournament in June at the RAC.I am sorry to see you get bumped up. I know you can put the ball out and hit well in general but I honestly think you are a AA team. Hope it gets taken care of soon. Would hate to not see you in the tourneys.

I can relate to that, however if you have players that have never played in a SSUSA event those players are unknown and therefore they themselves default as it were to being a AAA player. Been there.

But after 3 events played you can appeal the rating and go from there depending on your win loss record and runs won by record... or something like that...lol
Keep accurate records of the games. you will need it to verify\validate your stand on it.

Taits, here is ONE of the problems with the rating system. The players we added are Recreational players at best.
Also as stated in the SSUSA rating guidelines themselves, review of ratings is done in Jan and July. Heck, we haven't even played anyone in our age bracket yet and we get bumped! Just not happy...all the teams our sponsor has, he isn't happy. If we play and can't be competitive, it's all over for us. He doesn't mind losing, but he wants us to play somewhere where we AT LEAST have a chance to win.
If we have to change associations, the other teams he sponsors are going to have to go too. NOT HAPPY!

Doesn't seem right. I'll send the game cards from this weekend to Sacramento
in case it might help. Not being a qualifier they do not include these in the
overall stats.

Big Mike, I agree with the previous comments and your ratings should be reviewed. I think it was one of your team members that had a medical issue on Saturday. Scary moment for all who were there. Is he all right?

Mike,
From the scores I* see where you are coming from, but not knowing any of the players ratings they were given I have to go with the way it was handled but for at the last moment it seems. That to me is a problem and not right.
I read Shane puts on some good events in the NW. When I visited the Seattle, Kent, Redmond area a few years ago there wasn't one going at the time or I would of checked it out.
I do question the mix of teams you played though. Those really varied and this is one thing I personally DO NOT LIKE. Actual age spread way out of line and abilities that could be questionable make it a tough call for a level playing field imo.

Say hello to Art Eversole for me.
Good luck with all this.

But he will be well soon...thanks for asking.

Any 60AA established team that adds 7 unknown players,
(no history with SSUSA registered teams) will likely be
re-rated AAA. As always we have to consider this is
done to protect the 60AA division teams, not to punish
this team.

Division #3 for the April Opener included all of the
teams with the number rating 3, 4 or 5. Division #2
ratings 6 or 7. Division #1 ratings 8, 9 or 10. When
I have broken it down further, teams play the same
teams at every local event they attend, and some of
them play each other in league as well. In order to
provide more variety, I've learned larger divisions are
best. I don't like working out all the equalizers, and
they never adequately balance the competition, but what
else can a tournament director do?

Now imagine taking the same 25 NW teams and running a
qualifier, where I must avoid any more than "one-off"
combinations! Did it last August and almost ran myself
into the ground, Directing, Playing AND Umpiring! Keeps
me young...

The one thing I cannot control, weather...

I promise we'll have more (weather) at the May 18-19 Yauger Reunion, June 8-9
Player Memorial, July 6-7 Yauger Invite, August 22-25 Classic Rock at the RAC
Qualifier and September 14-15 Road to Las Vegas! Join us! It should be a
little warmer.
