teach me oh wise ones.....
I heard a debate this morning over a bat, please teach me why you cannot use a fastpitch bat in senior softball but you can in ASA softball. What is the differance between the two ? And why can it not be used.
Just wondering if someone there knows......

End load.... the manufacturer has designed the bat with more weight towards the end, thus "end load". Some seem to think more weight where the ball contacts the bat means more distance. Mostly this is a personal preference.

As for fastpitch bats, I believe they should be allowed. I don't think they are anywhere near as good as slowpitch bats.

ps, I don't consider myself a wise one, I just read a lot of post on the message boards.

Writing on this board is better than kicking the dog.
Now as I have learned, a fastpitch bat is the same as a slowpitch, every assoc allows them, ASA, NSA, USSSA to be used in slowpitch.
So I am sure that SSUSA allows them to. On to the next topic.

In 2001 Softball Magazine sponsored Fastpitch Bat Wars here in Woodstock, Ga. Carl Roberts (Kason's Grille) and I thought we would take some swings even though it was fastpitch. Carl had played fastpitch before so he really enjoyed it. To make a long story short almost every fastpitch bat that I used turned into a boat oar. When they asked us to rate the bat that we used I gave them the lowest score for durability.
Fastpitch bats and slowpitch bats aren't the same.

I have access to a true 'bat expert', not me. With that I want to ask, the fastpitch bats you hit, where they 34/28-27-26 or where they 33/24 or even more of a drop (I think that is the difference between the lenght and the weight.

Ok, one more last note here. I am told that a fastpitch bat is not as good for slowpitch because It takes a much faster bat speed to get the bat to flex. This is because in f/p the ball is moving so fast.
So if the f/p is not as good, why the sink here in Az about using one ?

It seemed like 27oz was the heaviest that I used.

A year ago or so some of the young guys were using the white Techfire. I don't know why, maybe because it was a 25oz.
