Anyone out there in softball land ever thought about having your Ultra 2 bat weight check? So far the ones that I have checked with a weigh scale do not weigh the OZ that is marked on the button on the handle! 26 oz weighs 27.4 27 oz weighs more than 28 oz. The 28 Oz weighs close to 30 OZ plus. Doesn't sound like much, but in a course of a weekend tourny, it does take it's toll on the extra OZ being used! No reply from Miken after sevral weks on this subject. Maybe thay want to get rid of their bats and they think we would not catch them at it? Ummm.

The original Ultras weighed in about the same too. Don't know if they have a "swing weight" test that reconciles the difference for their purposes. It's hard to argue with the resulting hitting power performance.

Houston here. We have one sporting store that use to sell U2's and they had a scale right next to the bat rack. Just about every U2 was off according to the scale and what the bat said it weighed. We found 27's that weighed 29 and so on. Usually a bat weighed an ounce more then what it was suppose to weigh. This goes back to when they first started coming out. For us here, its quite common for a U2 not to weigh what the bat says. If your really picky about your bats weight keep a scale close. Especially if its an U2. Just my two cents.

that is because Miken stinks - have had denting problems and bat weight issues from day one and nobody seems to care at Miken. I have recently switched to the new Akadema softball bat called the Xtension catapult. I love it and it seems hotter than Miken and others. Will keep you posted on durability

Yep, I take mine to the post office to have them checked. All my U2s have been 1-1/2 to almost 2 oz. over. I sent one back to Miken (which finally broke last year) and they dropped it about an ounce. If the factory does it, it is legal and not an altered bat. What prompted me to check the weight was indeed due to what I perceived as a loss of bat head speed at the end of a long tourney.

boochose; is the new Akadema bat hotter than the U2, or which Miken did you compare it to.

Where can I see pics of this Akadema bat and who carries it ? Is it legal in USSSA, ASA or just seniors. How does it compare to others like JH mayhem, NRG 600 or Easton Synergies? What's the going price?
