3 Game Guarantee
Just finished playing in a SSUSA qualifer. As is often the case, guarnanteed 5 games, 2 seeding, and 3 in the bracket. One of the teams in bracket play lost the first 2 games. They then were allowed to continue to compete for the championship. It does not seem right to me that after losing your FIRST 2 games in the bracket that you can come back and knock out another team who won their first bracket game, lost the second and now also has 2 losses. Surely there is some way to give this team their 3rd game but not allow them to win the tourney. Would like to know what others think. Thanks.

Many discussions on this here missouridave, it shouldn't happen, but with the format provided, it does. It does because it is mathematically possible. What becomes a double elimination for some (win 2 or win 1 of 2) becomes a triple elimination for others (lose first 2). That's right, there is a reward for losing the first two.....try explaining that to guys who come back to softball after a long hiatus.

I and others wish this would be solved once and for all. It's not hard, go to a four game guarantee...problem never happens again.

It won't happen with the five game guarantee either if you have 3 seeding games instead of 2.

Have to agree with you all on this one. In addition to seeing one of those teams in the bracket in one of the recent tournaments, they even had a better draw. A team that lost 2 played a team that was 1-2 and 2 teams that were 2 and 1 in the tournament played each other. That's just not right.

titanhd, You are right, it won't happen if you play 3 seeding games. But aren't seeding games really like playing in the back yard? Let's see, drive 400 miles with a $500+ entry fee to play 3 backyard meaningless games? Been there, done that, got the picture from the rodeo.

Thanks for the comments guys. I would rather go to a four game guarantee and drop the price of the tournaments a few bucks. Gets rid of the if game in the losers bracket and no one can win after losing the first two.

seems if you have a three loss elimination for one you should have it for all! IMO Just like when an upper bracket team plays a lower divisions seating in order to give the upper bracket more games, they should have to play all the teams in that bracket or not count against the one team in lower brackets seating! IMO
