Aug. 26 leftybob Men's 60 109 posts | Looking for some feedback as to what is the best regarding vision and comfort. |
Aug. 26 cheezhed1 Men's 70 47 posts | My recommendation would be the Champro adult face mask. I'm an infielder and pitcher in a local softball league and the infield isn't in the best condition. I wear the Champro face mask and find it very comfortable to wear with a good field of vision. Most of the other masks I researched were much more expensive. You can get the Champro Adult mask at Play it Again Sports for $25 or on line for around the same price. |
Aug. 27 Caveman Men's 50 68 posts | I've used the Gameface mask for the last several years. It was comfortable but lacked a bill to keep the sun out of your eyes. Also, when ground balls were hit up the middle, I would lose the ball a few feet in front of me. I recently switched to a Worth batting helmet with metal face guard. I worried that it might be too heavy and hot. It is not heavy and I have better vision than I did before. It is warmer, but wearing a skull cap made of technical (wicking) material helps keep the sweat down to a minimum. Treacy Elliott |
Aug. 27 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | i use the rip-it face mask...it is metal(the only way to go)and light with great vision...it has a version that has a bill that is velro'ed on for the sun.....price is $35-55 depending on where ya buy it.... for a helmet i use the worth pitching helmet like caveman does..... with both i use a skull cap also..under armour ones...... after reading on here about the pitcher who had his plastic mask broke on a batted ball..to me metal mask is the only way to go..... |
Aug. 27 Caveman Men's 50 68 posts | mad dog, That is why I changed over. Also, because the natural tendency, at least for me is to turn your head and duck when a ball is smoked at my head. A facemask alone offers no protection in that scenario Treacy Elliott |
Aug. 27 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | I've used GameFace for years, but the recent breakage incident is making me look elsewhere. I would like to use a Rip-It because it has better visibility for those low ground balls in front of you, but I couldn't find a suitable Rip-It three of four years ago because it was originally made for girls fast-pitch and they were all too small. I bought one anyway, because of the visibility and metal, but I only used it two games—too tight on my chin and temples. Guess I have a big head! I'm intrigued by the new Rip-It with a bill since the GameFace is terrible, even in mid-morning sun, when the sun is directly in front of you. Are the new Rip-Its larger? |
Aug. 27 leftybob Men's 60 109 posts | What about the worth SBPH? Anyone use this helmet mask combo? If so, how is it vision wise? |
Aug. 27 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | leftybob...i do have one and it is a very good choice...it is light, has good vision(not as good as the rip-it face mask)and covers your head...my problem with it,is it being so hot here in texas and me sweating gallons out.....well ya get the picture...... |
Sept. 3 Wayne 37 Men's 65 773 posts | Storing hard plastic in hot cars, or cold garages in the winter weakens it. It will contract or expand, and make the mask brittle. Store at room temperature as much as possible. Metals will do the same thing only not on such a grand scale. I never try to leave my bats in cold weather for sure, or in the extreme heat of a car. YMMV. Hope everybody had/has a great season. Toodles, Wayne37 |
