| Oct. 15 STONEMAN Men's 50 535 posts | Today, I spent some time talking to an ISA STAFF MEMBER. ISA, has a machine that can test bats on the spot. During the past yr, ISA, has tested many bats. @ one ISA EVENT, an Easton team had all of their new in wrapper bats confiscated. @ another ISA event , several bats were tested. The test results were: 1.9 BPF; 2.X, & ANOTHER ONE TESTED OUT @ 3.x BPF. These machines r not cheap. ISA, moves their machine around. The problem: ISA, may have 6 events going on thru out the states during a wkend. ISA, will be ban\' players w/ illegal bats for 5 yrs. Altered bats, will depend on many things. This wkend, U-TRIP, held it\'s 35 & OVER WORLD\'S, in Vegas. There were several illegal bats. One bat was made to look like a FREAK PLUS. But, on the KNOB-HANDLE, this bats STICKER, was not SILVER. This STICKER was BLACK W/ red lettering, just like the ones on the ULTRA 11\'s. One team had 2 almost new Synergy\'s. Neither hit the ground & were past on to a player or coach. When a ball was struck, w/ one of these 2 bats, the ball made a sound like \"breaking glass\". THIS IS ONE WAY, TO TELL, if, a bat has been made illegal. Again, my ISA \'freind\' was there. The U-TRIP UMP\'s, had no idea. SENIOR SOFTBALL:: Needs machine to test bats. One of ISA owners is CHET TYL. If, a tournament director thinks a bat is ILLEGAL. Call Chet, & send Chet, the bat in question. ISA, can ck. a bat 4 around $ 1,500, or FREE. The SOFTBALL SUMMIT, will be discuss\', ban\' a player for 5 yrs., if that player get caught using\' an ILLEGAL BAT. But, the ban will be 4 that Organization & not the whole Summit.. The ISA machine, is able to test a bats BPF. Higher than 1.20 BPF & that bats is ILLEGAL. this machine does not test 4 end loads or shaved bats. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY. Test bats @ all Tournaments. | Oct. 16 tattooball 774 posts | Stone, All of the associations have the compression machines. The problem with them is they don't tell you anything you can correlate with any test for bats. What they will tell you' if someone operates it properly what the compression of the bat is. The main problem is that you can still cheat with this test if you know how to and most bat dr's do, and there is no data to guide the user on what is ok. Every composite bat will flex differently, and break in to different levels so what compression is good or bad. Here is an example. You have a brand new u-2 that will test say somewhere around 245, mine is well used and will test somewhere around 165. Has my bat been altered? None of these machines can test for BPF only compression. |
| Oct. 16 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Stoneman: I do not know anything about bats; rods or whatever; I swing the V-1 Velocite. My question is like trumpball; it seems that the more you use a bat the more it will liven up; therefore the machine would have to take that into effect when testing as opposed to a NIW bat. Everything wears; it stands to reason that a bat wears on the outside & the evidence is the paint peeling or the spiderwebs, which also means that if it is spiderwebbing on the outside the compression is causing a bigger degree of separation on the interion. | Oct. 16 Conman Men's 50 72 posts | Gentlemen, I am 100% in favor of bat testing or anything to clean up the game. I have no respect for anyone who alters a bat, especially in our group where the U-2 is legal in a lot of tourneys. Bats do "liven" up without altering. Maybe setting a limit to the BPF just outside the 1.2 on used bats because you would be allowing for the break-in? Any bat, whether altered or not with a rating outside the set guidelines would not be elligible for use. Now I don't know anything about how these standards are determined and what the difference is in a bat rated at 1.23 vs 1.2. and how far the ball comes off. That would be up to all the people who do testing to decide, but at least the ball is rolling. I also feel the testing should be done beore the tournament begins. | Oct. 16 STONEMAN Men's 50 535 posts | TRUMBALL: Thanks, my blood is boiling. LVSSA & SS-USA do not have one of these machines. R these machine testing compression & or BPF? I spent time talking & felt better when I heard that a BAT TEST' MACHINE was out in the field. Now, I am not. This ISA machine, does nothing but, ck a bat in 3 places for BPF. ISA, has member on it's board that want a 5 YEAR ban. 2nd time, a life time ban form that organization. The SUMMIT, is to meet & discuss about harsher bans on players that r caught using ILLEGAL BATS. If, these Machines r NOT ABLE TO TEST BPF, what good r the Machines. Players r going to get LIFE TIME BANS. THIS PISSES, me. Why, play? If, the BIG 4 r using Poor Test' Equipment. What if, u have kids? What if, u r Chief of Police? A Mayor? A Coach? A School Teacher, etc? BAN THE BOMB, I ment Machines. TARTER 50: U have a good mind. Metals & Composites, will wear out. Constance bend', flex', etc. will wear bats & other mov' parts out (break). U-2s used to last me about 300 swings. U-2s, now, last me less than 150 swings. Last yr, I broke one U-2 in 40 swings & another in less than 80 swings. WELL, WHAT WILL WE DO? Test bats w/ a faulity Machine? Ban players 4 Life because a machine ...... Bed time.................... Out |

This Machines RESULTS, will be the DATA, that ISA, will use to ban players for 5 yrs. to life. In another post; "GET MY FACT......" I went thru the Messages several times. It appears that several MESSAGE HAVE BEEN DELETED. Am, I wrong???? All I can say, it appears that someone is build' a railroad. I have been told by a Summit Members, that their r SENIOR MEMBERS that will be pushing Terry H, to make an EXAMPLE, on The Seattle Disaster. Not 5 yrs, but, LIFE.
