50 Major Plus World Champions
I just wanted to send out a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Sommerville Softball. The 50 major plus bracket was loaded with great teams from all over the country. To come out of this undefeated, well I can only tip my hat to all of you. You guys have a great very fast outfield, great infield, Heller does a great job pitching, you hit for average and power. You guys hustle and slide when you should. Did I miss anything LOL. Truly a great complete ball club. We were able to beat everyone else and not you guys. It makes us want to work harder, to get in better shape, and work on our craft more. We're looking forward to competing with you again soon. We love playing against the best. Somerville Softball proved it was the best. CONGRATULATIONS again. Enjoy the parade ......

After playing both of these teams this year...and getting handled very easily by both, I wish I could have seen this matchup.

How did the game go? What was the final score?

Dave thanks for the nice compliments! It’s always good playing competitive teams like AZ Elite. The last couple years has seen great growth in the 50 Major Plus division. It was a great tournament loaded with great teams. It was nice to see so many good teams from back east come out. What an exciting tournament.

You guys played great as well throughout the tournament. That was quite an offensive display you guys put on in the quarterfinals Saturday night against the boys from Kentucky to land you in the king seat game. Our championship game with you was quite spirited and a nail biter. The last out, your line drive snagged by Giant John Heller, would have cleared a normal sized man. Who knows, we could still be playing today. Congrats to you and your team as well.

PS. If you ever want me to show you how to fill out a lineup card with ALL your players on it I’d be happy to help.

Just want to comment on the great job Bill Medved (plate) and Gary Moreno (bases) did on the championship game. They handled the incident early in the game placing themselves in harms way in the middle of the fray. And they got the tough call in the final inning right, doubling off the runner at first on a great play. Tense nail-biter to say the least.

Congratulations Sommerville. And congratulations Bill and Gary.

Thanks Mango. I obviously can use a lesson ...... Freakin John Heller LOL. Thanks for bringing up the fact that I made the last out. I hit it exactly where I wanted to and John gets up and snags it. Oh the nightmares ........ More ammunition for my team to give me more crap lol. There was no fray. Just some spirited fellas debating a base line. It was blown way of proportion in my humble opinion. I'm also happy to see the growth the 50 major plus division is experiencing. I hope it continues. Come on out and play fellas. Play against the best and it wants and makes you want to get better. We're really a 55+ team but we'll be back at the 50's. Why? Cos we want to play the best and that's where they're at. See you guys soon.
