If a batter intentionally reaches out and either catches or touches a legally pitched ball, I argued the batter is out. What is the rule?

if the pitch had any chance what so ever of hitting the strike mat then a strike should be called and if that was a 3rd strik the batter would be called out...if the pitch was way inside then you have nothing and a ball called

While playing in a young guy's NSA tournament 3 yrs ago I saw a batter called out for catching an inside pitch. Umpire stated it was batter interference.
That was the only instance I have seen where a batter was called out.
