Dec. 15 gr8hit42 3 posts | is there a rule that states that - it is an out for a batter/runner to touch first base while still carrying a bat? |

Dec. 15 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | I had a player on my team with a habit of carrying his bat all the way running to first and then tossing it as he passed first. One game he must have gotten carried away since he carried his bat all the way to second on a double. There was a lot of grumbling (illegal…no, it's not…could hurt someone…might interfere with the ball thrown in from the outfield…etc.). When challenged, ump ruled him safe as no interference. Runner called time out and ran over to toss the bat to his dugout. |
