Feb. 3 OZ40 549 posts | How is the bordering state rule drawn up by actual land touching land? Reason I ask is Michigan touches Ohio, Indiana & Wisconsin (by virtue of the Upper Peninsula) but looking at an atlas, Michigan's Great Lakes boundary also touches Illinois, Minnesota and again through the Upper Peninsula Ontario, Canada. Can Michigan draw from 5 states and Ontario Canada. |
Feb. 3 DaveDowell Men's 70 4323 posts | OZ40 ... The states and bordering states rules (except as they relate to Alaska, Hawaii and Guam) include only states and provinces having a "land border" ... For Michigan, it's as follows ... MICHIGAN • Bordering States/Provinces • Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin / Eastern Canada (Provinces east of Manitoba) Bordering states coverage does not bridge the Great Lakes of Lake Superior (MI/MN), Lake Michigan (MI/IL) or Lake Erie (MI/PA) or (MI/NY) as they relate to Michigan ... This topic is debated from time to time here (and this may start it again!), but that's the eligibility rule as currently interpreted and applied ... |
