Rock 'n' Reno Preliminary Field Assignments
SSUSA Staff - I convinced our sponsors to enter 60 Major + team in the Rock-n-Reno tournament this year. We are Boaz Exporting / ASI from Houston.

Will we definitely be playing in Carson City? Since its over 30 miles from Reno and Sparks, we want to stay as close to the fields on which we play as possible. We DO NOT want a repeat of what happened to us at the Florida WinterNationals where we thought we were playing in Tampa but were sent to Naples, a 45-minute drive from where we stayed.

Please let us know as soon as possible before we make our reservations.

Thank you,

Larry Lopez

Larry, you might do what I've done, make them in both places and cancel the other when you find out (at lease a day or two before scheduled arrival). M-6 is easiest for doing that, some others will stick you.

Larry- taits has the right answer. Book your best shot for Carson and have a back-up plan for Reno. The staff post say's there's no guarantee that you'll be in Carson, but you should be hoping you are. The fields there are the best by far of all the ones they use for this tournament. All of the 60's were in Carson last year. Looks like they are putting all of the best teams in Carson this year.with it being nothing but major and major-plus. That sould say something about the place. We're in Reno this time around. Hope this helps.

DesertGuy: You must be playing in another age bracket then. No 60's are sch 4 Reno\Sparks.

If you or anyone else goes to Carson, It wouild be great to put a face to the names here....
I play 4 Sac. Saints 60's.
Hope to meet some of you.

softballer- Pretty sure you're the one who needs to re-read the message. Doesn't say Women's 50's anywhere. Each line stands on its own. In that section is's real obvioua.

Line 1: All Women's Divisions
Line 2: 50 AAA and 50 AA
Line 3: 55 AAA and 55 AA

Those last 2 lines are men's divisions since the Women play in age groups only and not by divisions. All Women's Divisions means just that, regardless of age.

Your first grade teacher would probably be disappointed in you now! Just kidding!

Taits / Desert Guy - Thanks, I was afraid rather than knowing definitively where we would play that we would have to use this approach.

I spoke with Ed Rose in Fort Myers at the WinterNationals about what they did since the tournament was being played in Fort Myers and Naples. They did the same thing as you guys suggested. Since we knew nothing about playing in Naples, we stayed in Fort Myers and had to drive about an hour each way both days. Lesson learned.

I'll recommend we do the same as you suggest.

Softballer, Desert Guy is correct. AAA and AA are Men's categories. We are all in Sparks/Reno.

softballer- You MIGHT have a point IF there were ANY Women's skill-based divisions. They ALL play by age group only. The Men are the only ones that have divisions, so ANY reference to a Division is Men's by definition. I hope you find your Men's division site, or if you prefer, maybe you can hook up with a women's team.

softballer- The listing for the 50 AAA's and AA's and 55 AAA's and AA's doesn't say Men's OR Women's. All you have to do is keep in mind that ONLY Men have skill-based Divisions and Women don't. This is more than a little rdiculous. Have fun in Carson, the felds are the BEST of them all for this tournament.

Opening a can of worms:
I can just picture some guy playing on or trying to get on a woman's team. But why not. You see a woman on a few mens teams. It isn't called co ed either.
