Oct. 17 maskedman Men's 60 51 posts | Started watching a game on youtube.First batter walks to the plate and deliberately rubs out the front line of the batters box. Umpire calls him out. Needless to say this caused a delay in the game. A needless delay. The umpire did his job. Was the batter or his team happy? No. Irrelevant. The umpire did his job. Hats off to the umps that know the rules and enforce the rules. ALL THE RULES. |

Oct. 19 DaveDowell Men's 70 4323 posts | As one of the 13 members of the National Rules Committee charged with maintaining player safety, I don't envision any circumstance where allowing batters to, in effect, charge the pitcher out front of the batter's box is a good thing ... I will be proposing the following simple rule book amendment at next month's annual meeting to eliminate the first-offense "out", and go straight to an "ejection": __________ §7.3(1) • OBLITERATING THE BATTER’S BOX A batter, in the umpire's judgment, deliberately erasing any portion of the batters box will be __________ |
