| April 6 Bigtimer40 16 posts | bases loaded but no advancement Had a situation last night where bases were loaded zero outs. Ground ball to third baseman, the runner on third doesn't ever leave the bag to run home, 3r baseman fields it touches third base, but also tags the guy running from second to third. whats the call? |

[1] Field the ball, tag the runner standing on third THEN [2] step on third for the double play ... The runner on third is required to vacate the base on the ground ball so long as the force is in play (standing on the base is NOT a safe haven) ... Depending on the speed of the batter-runner, a triple play is not out of the realm of possibility if [3] the throw to 1B makes it in time ... |
