runner on base pop up fielder runs into runner standing on bag fielder drops ball, what is the call. I know in baseball you have to vacate bag because it is not a safe haven, in softball it is.

I can't believe you have no answer for me BJ. There has to be a rule. Say he is on second, only runner on base, the shortstop runs into man on second, if the runner was not on the bag shortstop would have had easy play. Does play have to move off bag as they do in baseball.

SS.. the base is the runners safe haven it’s where he belongs as long as he doesn’t move into the fielder I’d have no call.. let’s say he stepped off so that the fielder could catch the ball .. now he is in jeopardy of being tagged for being off the base .. again IF would be the only call I would have if the catch could be made with ordinary effort

Runner has the right to the bag , if running fielder has the right to the base path if making a play.

Runner does not have to vacate bag in this situation in baseball or softball.
