| Sept. 24 Gary Heifner 248 posts | Ultra 2 =s automatic HRs There are some on this board who keep indicating that all you have todo is walk up to the plate, take a token swing and 145 lb. senior men will drive the ball into the parking lot. At the recent Eastern Nationals, I watched a game between 2 very strong 50 AAA teams. They played on a 275' field with the wind blowing out. I believe there were "6" Hrs in the game. I was seated on a bench over the left field fence. Four of the six would have been caught on a 300' field. The other 2 were around 340'. I play on a very good 60AAA team. The most an opponent has hit against us is 4 in a game and some were singles due to the 1 up rule. My team is a terrific, at times, hitting team and I can remember our best outing at 3. What the U2 does is it gives the singles hitter a little more room to drop one in as the U2 puts a little fear in the outfielders and pushes them back a few steps. Also, I play catcher quite a bit and it is interesting how many guys are now choking up on the U2s and punching the ball. I have also seen more and more guys using other bats this year. A lot of combats and some guys we play against a lot have actually gone back to older aluminums. I am getting the impression a lot of seniors are getting tired of hittng 285' fly outs because in reality only a few guys on each team can actually hit it out even with a U2. I can say with all certainty that if you play a team that has 8 to 10 HR hitters, that team has been carefully recruited and stacked with major + players. |

If the rating system works at all, "very strong" teams go at least to Major. Otherwise the classification system is not working. If you are in the 3rd of 4 classes by definition your are not "very strong". For that class, perhaps, but certainly not in the big picture or you should not be there. |

| Sept. 24 azsenior 92 posts | Ultra 2 =s automatic HRs I have noticed the same thing with the U2 bat. Everyone seems to be a HR possible. This is why we do not allow anything but ASA bats at Sun Lakes. With a 44/375 ball and ASA bats only once in a long while do we see a HR unless we are pitching to homerun billy. Last Saturday he hit about seven not only over the fence but up on the road which is about 340 ft. |
| Sept. 24 bullet Men's 55 146 posts | Ultra 2 =s automatic HRs Gary Heifner,i believe you were watching one of our games at the eastern nationals.I played with the brickyard and we were palying the Indiana Classics.I agree with you 100%.I hit a few HR there,which were all well over 300.But many homeruns that were there,were just 280' out on regular fields.Most home run hitters could use almost any bat and still hit them out. |
| Sept. 24 Gary Heifner 248 posts | Ultra 2 =s automatic HRs To me, a very strong team is one that has no glaring weaknesses and could win a tourney if they play at expected levels. A great team is one that has pounded everyone in most of the qualifiers and I agree, should be moved up. |

| Sept. 24 azsenior 92 posts | Ultra 2 =s automatic HRs I have a yellow bat but next to never use it. The Senior ASA is my bat. Also the Reaper when I feel up to swinging the end-load. I do not play in tournaments nor would anyone want me to. |
