Oct. 1 the wood Men's 65 1123 posts | Doc, it's your floor... once again. |
Oct. 1 4x4 Men's 65 601 posts | Bob - so he doesn't miss a meal or a trivia question - - just BP? |
Oct. 1 the wood Men's 65 1123 posts | Doc seldom misses a trivia question... never misses a meal. In fact, McDonald's should be paying him royalties for the 'Happy Meal' phrase... the man is always happy when he's eating... or hitting HRs... or stepping on our punch lines. his other nickname is Krispy Kreme... connect the dots, Pete. He definitely didn't play outside much as a kid... he likes TV trivia like a fat kid likes cake. :-) |
Oct. 1 docswear Men's 55 99 posts | You know,Pete, jealousy is a terrible thing to live with and if you know The Wood you know all of this talk is just because HE WISHED he had a finely tuned torso such as mine. The guy is a natural double for howdy doody whose only claim to fame is being able to whistle dixie out his port side... next question. Back in the late 50's..... A bad-dude texas ranger rounded up the bad guys. His trademark was the song that accompanied his show. " ----- ------ ------ made you do what you oatta and if you didn't you died.." I think those were the words... What was his name in the show and who played him???? docswear |
Oct. 1 the wood Men's 65 1123 posts | Are you referring to 'The Tales of the Texas Rangers' show? |
Oct. 1 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | I think it was Nolan Ryan. |
Oct. 1 the wood Men's 65 1123 posts | If so, Ranger Harry Lauter made you do what you oughta, if you didn't you died. Clay Morgan played him, meat! Nftty, BW |
Oct. 1 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I was stumped so I thought I would check Google. There's a website http://www.fiftiesweb.com/western-4.htm that list most of the westerns of the 50's-60's. There must 40 or 50 of them. Check it out. |
Oct. 1 docswear Men's 55 99 posts | Woody.... that is not actually the show I was thinking of. I have not heard of the one you are talking about so perhaps you have knowledge that escapes me. The first two words of the song were "Texas John ------.... hopefully I was not delusional... and my memory is not jumping around on me. Bruce...thanks for the info... docswear |
Oct. 1 the wood Men's 65 1123 posts | So this probably means that I'm incorrect AND that I blew the chance to use this one in the future. This seems awfully harsh to me. :-) |
Oct. 1 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I remember seeing Texas John --------- while at that website. |
Oct. 1 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | How about Texas John Slaughter. But I thought that was a Disney series kind of like Davy Crockett. |
Oct. 1 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | And I have no idea who played him. |
Oct. 1 docswear Men's 55 99 posts | Texas John Slaughter was absolutely correct. Played by none other than Tom Tryon of the famous Tryon family. Bruce in GARGAA.... you are up.... goodluck..... docswear (<. |
Oct. 1 docswear Men's 55 99 posts | Wait.... maybe that was Ken that answered John Slaughter.. I guess you are up... Sorry docswear |
Oct. 1 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | Okay, this was on Friday nights. I know this ‘cause I always watched it and was often late for the Monthly Pack meetings for Cub Scouts, lol. It was set in Louisiana, and the main character was always dressed like a gentleman, but loved STICKING IT to the bad guys with his“piece of a meteor”. It had a great opening song and a chorus would sing the background during the scenes, kind of like Wyatt Earp. Please name the character. |
Oct. 2 AlleninGa Men's 60 113 posts | Jim Bowie, Jim Bowie, brave courageous and bold. |
Oct. 2 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I'll guess Yancy Darringer. |

Oct. 2 AlleninGa Men's 60 113 posts | I believe that was "Seargent Preston" and "King". |
Oct. 2 Dbax Men's 65 2101 posts | It's getting confusing. Allen, your question is still up. Bruce, Allen had the floor, and I think he answered your out of order question correctly. Allen's question still stands reference the blue darter. |

Oct. 2 docswear Men's 55 99 posts | Ken... A hard one????? I thought I knew my old westerns but between my buddy and I we could not come up with any ideas on this one. I actually hunted it down using my computer and I do vaguely remember the show. Only because of who played the guy that was supposed to hunt him down (Jim Davis)...If anybody gets this one right they should be applauded. Nice going!!! docswear |
