| July 17 Fred 45 posts | The balls should be flying out at this tourny. 3 of the fields are 280' the other one is 320'. My guess is that the Major plus and Major will play most of their games on the big field. For the AA teams, if they use a good ball, there will be some that will go out especially if you are swinging the Miken U2. They should consider changing it from an out to a single if someone on a AA team gets a dinger. Looking forward to seeing you all there next weekend. Fred |

| July 19 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | sweet p,what do u expect when they have up there away from most of the teams.the guy who runs the ruth team is part owner of ssusa along with hennsey(sp).i guess if u want to win that bad u will place it in your home town.last year i heard from guy on the rebels to not to bother to go because there would not be aby major + teams.the stars showed up and thats it.wonder how many major teams will be there? |

| July 19 Fred 45 posts | Mad Dog: Seattle is a great place to play softball with some great ballfields. It's a shame that more teams won't travel up here. I guess it's OK for all the guys from WA and OR to travel to CA, NV, TX and FL to play but no one wants to come here. The comment about the WE Ruth teams is totally uncalled for. They have traveled all over the country and have played the best competition around. They don't duck anyone. Bill Ruth is a class individual and has sponsered softball teams ( 3 senior teams this year) since the early 70's. He has spent more of his own money sponsering teams than anyone in this state that I know of. This is one of the the big 3 SSUSA tournys this year and it's a shame that it doesn't get better representation. Fred |
| July 19 hornachec Men's 55 50 posts | just wanted to add that a lot of the tournament games are being played at russell road in Kent, the fields there are all 300 foot fences, and the fields are some of the best you can play on, Seattle is not that far away and prices for airfare from most west coast cities is under $200. As for the slam on Bill Ruth and the SSwc, I'd just like to say that in the 30 plus years of playing ball, I've never played for a better sponsor, or met anyone who has had more love of the game than Bill.... We played there last year and the fields & weather were very nice, to bad this year SSWC cound't nail down the Host Hotel across the street(Best Western on the Green) from the ball fields still can't complain wre on 15min away. On a side note I hope they made the brackets team friendly with last years title game around 4pm made it very tough for teams to catch there flights. Bob |
| July 20 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | fred and horn,when the westerns are held up there( i do agree the fields and venue are nice ,used to live there in the early ninetys)all lot of teams are not going.when it is more central to everyone more teams can enter.as far as ruth being fair i've seen his team get down graded to major when they were a major+ team last year.now if he wasn't part of the network that wouldn't happen.i've known teams to stay at a upper level regardless of what they do.when your team is sponsered u can go to all those venues we are not so we can go only to a few,so why not have the tourneys in centralized places.we didn't go to mobile last year because of the cost and time off that would be required(some of us still have to work).so when u own half the organization u get what u want. just my .02$ |
| July 20 Sweet P Men's 60 191 posts | My biggest complaint about having the West Nationals in Seattle, is the nuber of days '4', and the cost of airfare from L.A. ($300 minimum). I don't see why a tournament with less that 15 teams per division can't be played in 2 or 3 days max. As far as WE Ruth, they have a good team and we enjoyed playing them. The complaint of my team is how SS-USA teams are ranked, specially new teams. It appears win/lost records have little to do with your classification ranking. We had a .525% win record and got bumped up. Teams with better records didn't? |

| July 20 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | sweet p last year we had 3 teams in the major div along with a major+ and a 55 team.it still took us 4 days to do our div.it seems they don't care about the teams that are travelling.the huntsmen games last year we finished a day early in the major div,maybe ss-usa should study them |
