I am writing on behalf of the Silver Foxes women's 45+ Softball Team. It amazes me that this association has done eveything it feels necessary to show grave indifference to the Silver Foxes 45+ Women's Softball Team. When we played in Reno in July, we were the only 45+ team there. We were told that we would be playing against the 40+ teams and would was guaranteed the 5 run equalizer to start. Right in the middle of the tournament the 5 runs were taken from us as the umpire/association felt we were too much of a competitive team. We expressed our dissatisfaction and were told that the teams showed a lot of concerns for us getting the 5 runs, and that the 45+ would be taken out totally so as to avoid this anymore, so we would have to play 40+ in future tournaments with no 5 runs rule. We were even told that there need to be a minimum of 3 teams to form 1 division. Now I understand for the Vegas tournament that the 40+ teams (only 2) will play against the 50+ teams (10 years age difference) and they will have to give the 50+ teams 5 runs. We are back to the same situation which the association guaranteed us would not happen again because of teams concerns regarding the 5 run equalizer rule. The same should have been done for the two 45+ teams that participated in Phoneix as it was a big disadvantage for us playing against the 40+ teams. Why couldn't what is being done in Vegas happened in Phoenix? No, because Silver Foxes was involved. The association could have done the same thing by dividing the 40+ into 2 divisions like they are now doing in Vegas, and have one 45+ team play in each divisions, and in the end, the two 45+ teams play for the championship against each other, and the 40+ compete against each other for their championship. We feel that we are being treated very unfairly by this association because every tournament we participate in, something is always changed to affect us negatively.

I do hope that we be given the same privileges as other teams in future tournaments, as it has become very frustrating for us as a team.

I'd think this type of situation, (playing against different ages & or levels ) would be addressed in the SSUSA's rule book. If it isn't, it should be. Chk it out if you haven't already.
There should also be a rules book link on this site. imo

I hate to say it, but welcome to the SSUSA organization, where rules consistency is not a priority or a general practice.
