If you want answer about what A.S.A. is doing about the composite bats. Call this man who is in charge of the testing of the new 98 MPH procedure in the university lab.
A.S.A. sent bats from four of the major bat manufacture that had already passed the 98MPH test. They were retested to make sure that they where still in compliance. I was not told how they were broken in. My guess is they where giving to there softball teams to be used in B.P. to break them in. Than retested after they where broken in. (The bats were purchased at retail sporting good stores)
I spoke with Dr. Smith in January of this year he would not tell me which bats where sent to him. He told me A.S.A. did not think composite bats would increase there performance after players hit with them. His comment to me was A.S.A. was not very realistic in this matter.
