March 5 2awesom Men's 50 308 posts | I help Coach a 50+ Major Team from Penna. ASA 50+ States did not allow Major Teams to participate last year. Actually we played last year when we were AAA and finished dead last. My question is, if we can't play 50+ ASA States, can we still play at ASA National"s? (At the Major Level) Would appreciate any input. |
March 6 SAG 84 posts | Hey 2awesom, Not sure where you placed last year in the ASA Nationals but I doubt it was dead last. I know you beat us, Kaysons Grille AAA 11-2. maybe you lost all of them after that. I know we were very impressed with your team. You have a very good AAA team. Not sure how well you will do as a major team but that's the price you pay for winning some National Tournaments. I beleive you guys won the Fort Myers Winter Nationals the last two years in the AAA division. I think you were undefeated both years but not sure about that. You placed second in the Tournament of Champions this year. I would be surprised if they let you play in the AAA division of the ASA Nationals. We have a good team but have never been able to climb that last hurdle and win a major tournament. We qualified for the Tournamnet of Champions in a 4 team tournament the first part of last year but that was it. We were able to beat some good teams and held our own with most but can't seem to put it all together when it counts. Good luck to you guys Steve George #19 Kaysons Grille 50AAA |
March 6 2awesom Men's 50 308 posts | hi steve thanks for the information We actually placed 3rd at ASA Nationals in 2007 at the AAA level. It was at the Penna ASA States that we finished in last place. We would like to play ASA Nationals again this year, and at the Major Level. I'm just not sure how we can qualify for it. It could be as simple as just sending them a check and telling them that we want in. thanks again good luck in 2008! Rick |
March 6 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Rick, when I played with Old South/Miken a few years ago we had a similar problem when we tried to play the 40+ and 45+ ASA Nationals. We were told that we had to play in a qualifier but couldn't find one. We finally talked to the state director and he approved us for the nationals. I suggest the do the same or mabe talk to the tournament director and see what he requires of your team. Here is td's info as found at the asasoftball.com website: Tournament Director: Mark Cryan Address: PO Box 1358 Business: (336) 222-5030 Home: (336) 516-3577 Fax: (336) 229-3106 Email: mcryan@ci.burlington.nc.us Good luck |
