July 24 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | For those of you who play in the SPA events: 1. Do the players need to have played in one of their Qualifiers before playing in their National? 2. In looking at their rules page I noticed it appears they make exceptions to the number of pick up players they allow, normally two... Is that true? ... and get them in writing, I'd say. 3. If the above is true How many payers can be added without becoming an exhibition team? Thank you. |
July 24 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | You might add does the team also need to have played in a qualifier. With same guys other than pick ups? |
July 25 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | I'm surprised that no one has taken the time to reply to this given there has been 100 views on it. I know that many on the board attend these SPA events. I am trying to find out (for a few guys that called me) if a team picks up about 5-7 players will those add on players, not normally the team, end up having the team play exhibition. If in SPA, not needing to qualify (personally or with a specific team) & picking up 5+ for a National is ok, I'd say go for it. Otherwise why travel that far to win nothing except bragging rights and a good time. No help here, no problem for myself I wouldn't risk it, but would ask for those others. |

When SPA had thier message board I asked numerous questions and never got an answer to any of them. As for your question, I believe Major Plus doesn't have to play in a qualifier, the other do. As for picking up players I don't know but I would guess that they would have to be approved. I seem to remember that you could pick up players from an older age group. |
July 25 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Picking up an older grouped guy makes sense, but the number of them is what worries me. It's a AAA team, do not know name. No questions answered, rings a bell. Thanks for the reply, perhaps someone else has an answer, or it too, fell on a deaf ear. |
July 28 Gelpas Men's 55 25 posts | I may not have the legal answers to your questions but I have a site you can go to and try to weed through the Policies for National Tournaments for SPA. Gelpas http://softballspa.com/Documents/2008%20RuleBook%20Final.pdf |
July 28 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | That is where I got my info and why I questioned the adding of 5+ players. I do not know of any assn. that allows for more than two, possible three. I think those going may be in for a rude awakening when they get there. I hope not. Thands for the link. |
