Hitting Club
I have talked with a couple of seniors in the past that have been part of hitting clubs in Florida and Colorado that enjoyed the opportunity to get more swings in. Can anyone offer any constructive ideas on how these are operated? Thanks.

Nancy in Las Vegas the Seniors get together on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings to hit and play pick up games (this is all ages). It really is a great experience to not only hit (which you know I enjoy) but to get to meet and get to know on a pesonal basis other players. For those that work you can still make the Saturday hitting sessions. It's a real pleasure to get to know the players at different age levels. Hope this helps and tell everyone I said "hello".

Steve, it is good to know you are still out there and playing our favorite game. Everyone here sure misses you at the local parks.

Since we would be using a private park for hitting, and they need to be compensated for being 'open', I am thinking that maybe they could charge for a bucket of their balls like a driving range and have someone pitch (with a screen).

Nancy I would like to add to what Steve has posted, I got introduced to Senior ball through the LVSSA club. Through the club I've met and made numerous friends. The best part is we have the mixing and matching of all age groups, Skill levels and I really enjoy the pickup games. One week I'll be playing OF next to a 73 year old, (I marvel at this young mans skills) the next hitting in front of one of great senior players in the country. If you want extra BP side arrangements are made, for example a number of us are hitting Sunday afternoon around 5:30 this weekend. Steve will tell you that advice flows freely.

Nancy one other thing that might help us in our area is
some kind of progran that runs all winter. Some of us will
be playing in Ft Myer in Nov and TOC in Feb. I would be willing to come up from Louisville to Indy if you could get
something started

The Woodlawn Hitting Club in Florida meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-10. They divide you into 2 groups. Usually around 10-12 + guys in each group. One goes out and shags balls, wipes off the dew and puts them in buckets. The batting team lines up and each man hits five balls and goes to the end of the line. They keep rotating until all 180 balls in the pitchers buckets have been hit. They have a protective screen for the pitcher. Then then switch. They go thru this rotation twice. It takes about 2 hours. Many then go for breakfast around the corner. Pops44 on this site and on the Mohr softball site runs the show. I go whenever I am in the Clearwater area. Its a great time.
