| Nov. 10 joewayback 3 posts | Can anyone tell me why the Fort Myers - Men's 55+ Major Division is starting under the lights on Friday night? Everyone knows that that many of us are half blind under the lights. |
| Nov. 10 DaveDowell Men's 70 4323 posts | Hi joewayback ... I authored the schedules for Ft. Myers, and here's the reason: Multiple teams in your division made specific 'late start requests" due (presumably) to either travel or hotel issues. We do our best to accommodate such requests so that more teams have the opportunity to participate. The N. Collier Sports Complex is just two years young and is one of the top two or three facilities that I have seen in the entire country. The lighting is state of the art, as is about everytthing else there. Good luck! |

It would be great to know ahead of time if start times were going to be late in the day in order to save a night on hotels if at all possible. Thanks Joewayback Heard the fences are 325? |

| Nov. 11 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | LL is right, the 325' fences didn't seem that far, balls were clearing them by plenty. Now the outfielders may complain because of the extra area they had to cover. :) |
| Nov. 11 CAT 200 posts | I do not feel that the Major division had to move to Naples.. The teams that I know that are playing in the Majors could have quite comfortably played in the Ft. Myers are of Cape Coral or Lee County. I do not know of any true power homerun teams in this divison that requires the 325 fence.The last minute notice of moving up our team created a huge inconvenience and expense to us. Plus, it takes us away from the main venues of the tournament and does not allow us to meet up with our friends from the other teams.Looking at the times for the AAA and AA, it appears that their finish times in the late morning could have accommodated another division. If you are going to factor in late starts for the entire divison, it should have been known far enough in advance for all teams to make arrangements. I know that it is about $$$$ and SSUSA promising revenue to the community. But many times it is at the expense and inconvenience of the teams which makes up the backbone of your organization. |
